The PM competitions took place on January 30, 2016 in Fredericia, Denmark. Taekwondo athletes brought home 4 gold and 2 silver medals.
Eddie Quinones competed in the cadet boys' -57 kg category. Eddie was the only cadet boy of the Finnish team who won 3 matches. Finally, a gold medal was hung around the neck.
Emilia Lahti took only one match, which she won with a point difference of 13-0 at the end of the second set. Bringing gold from the cadet girls' -47 kg category.
Aleksi Väyrynen competed in the junior boys' -51 kg category. He won his first match sovereignly, but an old metatarsal problem prevented him from playing in the finals, so he brought home silver.
Tuikku Holopainen took two matches in the cadet girls' -44 kg series. In the final, she faced Elisa Toivonen and lost with two strong warnings 0-1. So you're taking silver with you on the way home.
Milla Väyrynen moved from cadets to juniors and in the -49 kg category the resistance was tough. The Dane who won the series was stronger, older and more experienced. That way, there was only experience left in the amount of one lost match.
In the movement series, Essi Labart and Christian Kamphuis took gold in the pairs series, and Christian did another hard performance by taking gold in the men's individual series in a small fever. In the individual series, Essi was 6th, being the best Finn in her own series. Essi also competed in the group series, where he finished fourth.
Big congratulations to the whole team on behalf of the coaching staff!
