Great performances in the Loviisa matches

The match team is in great shape

Loviisa Open 2019 opened the domestic league season on Saturday, February 16. The winter holiday somewhat ate up the participants, but there were still enough good matches for the whole day. Taekwondo athletes hunted for medals with 11 representatives.

In the league series Bard and Plum served kick-ass entertainment for all the money. Bardia took an overwhelming series victory in the men's -74 kg category, and Plum, on the other hand, worked hard for gold in the B-junior -63 kg category. Both matches were full of fast-paced situations and wonderful scoring performances.

Alina S. showed what concentration and the ability to overcome situations means. Precise tactical skills also brought Alina gold after two matches. Ines was a strong bet in the cadets' -41 series, clapping his first match with clear numbers. In the second, unfortunately, the opponent couldn't fight due to illness, so Iinense won the gold with a forfeit win.

Priya, Alina N. and Reed all three debuted in the cadet league series. Priya and Alina faced each other in the opening match and after a tight fight, the points narrowly went to Alina's side. In the final, Alina had to settle for silver this time against an experienced opponent. Kaisla played an excellent opening match, but the opponent still took a longer shot.

Mark also got to fight with main contact in D1 races with the new rule change and it was good. Markus scored points at a furious pace from his helmet in both of his matches and there was no doubt as to who won the series. Milay played in the D2 series, but this time the road ended just short of the opening match.

In the series of the youngest E-junnu Max and Luca both competed in their first games. Both had clearly discovered that offense is the best defense and progressed nicely to the final against each other. Max won the final this time.

Big congratulations to the medalists! Purposeful training produces results, so it's good to take extra speed towards the next goals. :)

The spring season for taekwondo athletes starts on January 7.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Get yourself going!

Whether you are a beginner or a specialist in kicking technique, by 7.1 at the latest. it's time to kick yourself into the taekwondo exercises. There are groups for enthusiasts of all ages and levels, and you can join at any time!

Spring practice times

There have been small changes to the practice times since autumn:

  • 4-6 year olds practice on Mondays from 18:00 to 19:00 and on Saturdays from 11:00 to 12:00.
  • 7-9 year olds practice on Mondays from 17:00 to 18:00, but for Wednesday and Friday the practices are an hour later at 18:00 to 19:00. The reason for the change is that there are still many more people in the age group who ride with their parents, and it can be difficult to get five to the exercises. Accordingly, 10-12- and 13-15-year-olds train earlier on Wednesday and Friday.
  • There is one more movement series competition practice for Wednesday
