We encourage all new enthusiasts to participate in the games, even if they don't even know what competing means. The first time you can look at the moods or even try it yourself if you feel like it.
You can borrow the missing protectors from the club, but we recommend everyone to buy their own training protectors. Ask more from the gym's equipment store and coaches.
Note! No other exercises will be organized on the day of the Salika competition.
A few enthusiasts completed the new belt rank on Thursday 19.1 with positive feedback. The exam concerned those who were prevented from coming to the actual December exam due to illness etc.
Together with Olli Siltanen and Frans Salme, Christian Kamphuis took gold from the ranking games in Paris in the series group U-30. Christian and Essi's season opening in the individual series was good, but not quite enough for the final rounds.
The race gave a good impression of the starting season, as there were more than 500 participants.
It's time to get back to training routines again. There have been some small schedule changes for spring, which you should check practice times –from the side. In the newsletter below, you will find the most important information and dates that you should mark in your calendar.
Unfortunately, due to the quiet autumn and low number of registrations, no taekwondo course will be held at Kalajärvi school in spring 2017. Kalajärvi enthusiasts are warmly welcome to practice in Konala. The autumn 2017 course will be mapped separately at the end of the summer.

New taekwondo dans to Konala
20.12.2016 in the 1st dan exams held at the taekwondo athletes' gym successfully fought for their belts Jannet Wargelin and Trap. The roughly four-hour exam began Essi Labartin in connection with movement series training with warm-up and kicking technique, from which the test continued in a private lodge with basic technique and movement series. The basic techniques were quite comprehensively reviewed one by one, after which the technique was done while moving in the form. The basic technique was followed by the business series part. After that, the trainees were able to show their steering skills by pulling the warm-ups of adult enthusiasts' training, after which they moved on to the fast-paced step fight and self-defense section. During the small physical Huil, the written part of the exam was completed.
Three hours from the start of the test, we got to measure the mental and physical edge for the match technique part, the warm-ups of which were again handled by the belt coilers. Petteri Kauppinen had come along to make sure that the contestants” part of the competition would not be a dance of roses. In the match section, both old school and new age techniques were gone through and finally, of course, there was sparring - the belt coaches also in two-on-one mode. After four hours, we fought against fatigue and cramps in the jumping kick part, and at the end of the test we did the ”crushing", which this time was applied due to the lack of material, but which measured our skills and power output at a sufficient level.
After the hall had already quieted down for the night, cramps were massaged, test feedback was given, a beautiful but manly barren belt ceremony was held, and the accompanying portrait was taken with a self-timer. The examiner congratulates the new black belts, Jan-Eric Wargelinia and Janne Ritaa, passed the dan test with great courage. The level of competence exceeded the black belt criteria by far, although there were still some areas that needed a lot of improvement. Measures to correct the ”weaknesses” were discussed in advance and in the next test we can expect an even more complete and solid performance.

The final scores of the 2016 match league have been published
The 2016 match league was wrapped up in the Parainen league finals at the end of November. The association published the final total points and series points now, although of course the winners already received their trophies in connection with the league finals. Taekwondo athletes was the third most successful match club. The second place could not have been closer, with Turku Budokwai Taekwondo only one point ahead in the total points. Euran Yong taekwondo won the combined points competition with a clear difference to the following.
Taekwondo athletes were particularly strongly represented in the cadet series. Plum won no less than two league championships from the cadets' -41 and -45 series. Hannes won the -49 series by solving a tight and even tighter twist to his name in the league finals. Eddie, on the other hand, easily won the -57 kg category. In the girls, Aino won the -33 series with a clear point difference and came second in the -29 series. Emmi's victory in the girls' -51 series was also clear. There were no wins in B-junnu and adults, but there were places. As the younger age group grows, even those series start to fill up with Taekwondo athletes and first placers.
Congratulations again to all the league medalists!
The tension was palpable in the gym on Wednesday 14.12. when all junnu groups had a belt test day. As usual, the excitement turned from the first crab walks into a good cheer and hard concentration. On the children's side, Jenna and Riina awarded tiger badges to four hard-working trainers and a dragon badge to one. In the belt test, the children showed their best skills, and the badges were certainly earned at the end of an intensive hour. On the other side of the curtain, Pauli supervised first the test for yellow and green ribbons and then the test for upper belt grades. Pauli was very satisfied with the skills of both groups. On Thursday, a small group of adults took their test under Sampo's supervision, and the bar was easily crossed by the whole group.
Congratulations to everyone on their new belt ranks!
Christmas break is celebrated in Konala 22.12.2016-8.1.2017, whennormal exercises are not organized in the gym. Competition groups will be informed separately about practice and exercises during the break.
