Teemu Heino started his competitive career nicely by beating the young Serbian Relja Prosenicka with a score of 5-0.
In the second round, the silver medalist of the London Olympics, Gabon's Anthony Obame, was stronger 0-1. The judges reeled for a long time about the back spin hit of the 3rd set, but did not accept it as a point performance. Teemu's career ended with this match.
Obame continued to the final and became world champion.
Teemu's performance can be considered good. Returning from a serious injury to the top of the world has been successful. It will be interesting to see if Heino will also represent Finland in the spring European Championships.

Sophia's summer training in Greece
Sophia Vassilaki is training in Greece in the summer. The first week passed Kiriakos Parasidis in the gym, under the guidance of assistant coach Haralambos Balaskas. The club's name is Peristeri and a large group of top Greek cadets and juniors train there, as the brightest star Stavroula Kontou, who took silver at last year's European Youth Championships in Zagreb.
”Tosi kovia ja taitavia tyttöjä jotka treenaa kovaa. Rahaa vaan ei ole ulkomaan kilpailuihin. Bulgariassa olivat saaneet ainakin kahdessa luokassa kultaa.”, toteaa Laura Vassilaki, viikon verran harjoituksia seurattuaan. Alla Lauran ottamia kuvia harjoituksista.
Next, Sophia will continue training on the island of Kos, where she started her training.
There was enough buzz in Konala's gym and the surrounding area at the beginning of June, when TU11's first taekwondo day camp gathered 12 juniors to train, play and hang out together on June 3-7. A video was also shot at the camp, which will be shown when finished.
Each day's program included two guided taekwondo exercises, shared meals and outdoor activities. During the week, kicks, pooms, basic technique and acrobatics were practiced, and on Friday the camp culminated in mini-competitions, where they competed in pairs or groups in the skills part, pooms and matches. At the fastest, front kicks hit mits in 34 fifteen seconds, and even for a jump kick, the slap had to be held while sitting on the shoulders. In Pooms, we saw some great couples
individual performances and in the match the cheers were amazing and the distances were just right!
Next summer, kicking again and even better!
Friday 14.6. twenty enthusiastic taekwondo enthusiasts took part in the organized training. The longest journey was made by representatives of Mukwani from Jyväskylä. The long-time Danish competitor and coach guaranteed fast-paced training.
The training culminated the Dane's and Teemu Heino's training week, where they honed their form with an eye on the upcoming World Championships.

Zakaria Asidah from Denmark will guide the match practice on June 14, 2013, at 6:00 p.m.
Zakaria Asidah is the recent winner of the Trelleborg Open and a multiple prize medalist. He is training at our gym this week with Teemu, as both are going to represent their countries at the World Championships in Mexico in July.
Exercises primarily for adults
In training, match technique and match drills are reviewed. The exercises are primarily aimed at adults, but younger people can join as well, because TU's own boys are there to help the juniors.
The workouts are part of the training fee for our own enthusiasts, for others we charge 10 euros/participant.

Matti Sairanen, who represents our team, is leaving on June 8. going to the Para-Taekwondo World Championships to seriously pursue a medal. The silver medalist of the previous games in the category A6 under 68 kg, is now seriously aiming for the world championship.
"In the end, the final ended 2-1 in Azer's favor, the match was extremely even", says Matti.
"Anything is possible with a good performance, but everything has to go right," says Sampo Pajulampi, who works as a coach in the competition.
In the same connection, the 2nd Swiss Open tournament will be held
In the same context, a high-level tournament will be held, when the world's top players will complete the WTF GI-ranking tournament. From Finland, the recent Nordic Champion and Olympic visitor Suvi Mikkonen is participating.
Aleksi Väyrynen represented Finland in the Austrian Open in the cadet boys under 37 kg category. The opponent of the first round, Germany's Rene Ackermann, won the match with numbers 1-10. Ackermann won the entire series.

From the Taekwondo PM competitions, 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze
Sophia Vassilaki took gold, Teemu Heino and Tanja Lovikka silver and Aleksi Väyrynen Bronze.
Internationally, the hardest match was the meeting between Teemu and Zakharias Asidah, where Teemu Taipui lost 6-4. Even though this time there was a loss, Teemu stayed on the ride of the WC medalist, who is in great shape.
In addition to our own medalists, Pauli Raivio, who instructs and trains at our gym, took home the gold medal in his series.
A great end to the season
A great competition season ended with a handsome final and it's good to continue from here summer training among. As for Teemu, the season continues until July, when we visit World Cup in Mexico. Taekwondo athletes would like to thank all the competitors, guardians, judges, competition organizers and those who participated in spirit, BIG THANKS!
