Helsinki Poomsae Challenge - CANCELED

Unfortunately, due to the low number of registrations, we have to cancel the weekend business series competition. A new company at the beginning of autumn with a new gym!

Welcome to the first Helsinki Poomsae Challenge event 7.5.2022!

Taekwondo athletes 2011 and Kampsport Fighters jointly organize a low-threshold movement series competition. The indoor competition-style event is suitable for beginners as well as veterans and serves as an excellent addition to the domestic spring competition season or, for example, as a preparation competition for PM competitions.

The Poomsae Challenge is not a traditional gym competition, as the points are given with official scoring devices and we also try to get trained movement series judges to attend. In addition, the Taekwondo Association's business series committee piloted a new mentor system at the event. From experienced mentors, both competitors and business series coaches receive concise feedback on their performance.

We divide the competition series according to registrations. The series are divided according to age and skill level, and you can also compete in groups, doubles and freestyle.

The winners of the series will be awarded and all participants will be awarded a diploma!

How do you get to the belt exams?

You can get to the belt exams by collecting enough practice marks from the previous belt exam. We calculate training visits based on recorded workouts, so remember to log your exercise every time you go to the gym.

The prerequisite for entering the exam is also that you know the things required in the exam at a sufficient level and follow the rules of conduct in the gym during the exercises.

You do not need to register for the exam in advance. However, please let us know if you are not going to participate in the exam after receiving the invitation by email. Also let us know if you didn't receive an invitation, but you think you should have a belt test.

What is required in the belt test?

In the belt exam, you need to know the technical requirements of the exam and the sets of movements. The requirements of the previous exams also still have to be mastered.

Practice instructions for belt tests

How should you prepare for the exams?

The best preparation for the exam is to attend training actively and versatile. For example, enthusiasts who emphasize match training should also attend basic training from time to time, and correspondingly, those training in basic hobby groups should deepen their skills in the form of match training and movement sets.

Movement sets should be practiced especially well, because they gather almost all the techniques required in the exam and embody the ability of the enthusiast to rhythm the techniques and generate strength in them. After learning a new movement sequence, repeat it as much as possible.

In the weeks before the exam, movement sets are also repeated more than usual in training.

What does the exam cost and how is it billed?

You can find our belt test price list:

We will invoice you for the exam by email after the exam.

Indoor competitions 18.12. canceled

Due to the prevailing corona situation, we consider it best to cancel the gym competition event planned for Saturday. The time right before Christmas is challenging anyway, because possible chains of exposure and quarantines would not only be more challenging to figure out, but would also ruin many people's holiday plans. In addition, relatively few participants have signed up for the indoor competition so far.

The aim is to hold the event at the beginning of the year if the corona situation allows.

Quite a few new belt values from the May exams

At the belt exams in May, a large number of enthusiasts earned their new belt rank. Pat on the back! Hard training was reflected in great performances in the exams themselves, and the bar didn't budge for anyone.

Thanks also to Mati, Marita, Kirsimarja and Riku, who supervised the exam under the watchful eye of Paul as part of their own progress in the ranks of the black belt. Excellently planned and conducted tests by each. Of course, the same applies to Minna, who won the 3-6 year old exam with a strong routine.

This is good to continue towards summer training

Level 1 coach training for taekwondo athletes as an intensive course in June

Coach training for taekwondo athletes was unfortunately interrupted at the end of autumn 2020 due to the corona situation. It has not been possible to continue the trainings in the spring either.

In June 2021, we will organize a level 1 training as an intensive course. The course applies to everyone whose Level 1 education was interrupted in the fall, as well as others interested in the subject. We encourage all enthusiasts over 16 years old with at least a red belt to participate. You can attend the training even if you have already completed a similar training, because the subject areas have changed.

Note! Training is mandatory for those participating in the DAN exam in June, if a similar performance has not been done before.

Objectives and subject areas

  • Learning the ways and practices of the society
  • Identify ways to create a safe and stimulating training atmosphere
  • Identify ways to intervene in problem situations and dangerous situations (e.g. injuries)
  • Illustrates ways of practicing taekwondo skills through progressions and differentiated exercises
  • Learn the basic model for planning a single exercise
  • Learn the basics of different teaching styles and exercise implementation methods

Schedule

Thu 3.6. – 17:00-20:00
Thu 10.6. – 17:00-20:00

In addition to face-to-face teaching, examinees receive a few practice tasks. The location of the close episodes is the Taekwondo athletes' hall in Konala.

Registration
