    Volunteer for the Games

We are looking for volunteers for a possible league weekend, and we ask those who are interested to sign up. There are fun and interesting things to do for everyone. Everyone participates according to their own wishes. You do not need to know anything about taekwondo competitions beforehand, all tasks will be trained and instructed as necessary.

We need people for the cafeteria team and for the preparation of cafeteria products, technical organisation of the competition, hall organisation, equipment inspection and first aid, among other things.

We are hoping for a large number of responses, as if we don't get enough volunteers, the race cannot take place.

          Loviisa Open 2025 race reports

          Match

          Team Manager Pauli Raivio's report

The spring competition season kicked off with the traditional Loviisa Open, where 127 athletes won medals. TU had no less than 15 athletes in this group, and this team was not spared a rain of medals! In the amateur series of the morning, both the rankings and the attitude were spot on. First timers Liisi and Jaana went into the challenge with an open mind and we can expect a lot from them in the coming competitions, even if they still lost today. Max returned to racing after a short break, but again showed that he was right at home and took gold in show style. Narvin fought a very even match, but this time they had to settle for bronze with a small difference. Isabella and Rana staged a stunning final between the two sides after beating both of their opening opponents. There was no shortage of situations and drama in the final and the girls were both deservedly awarded with a well-deserved cheerleading award at the end of the day!

Afternoon Chahra and Bard took gold in their own series by clear margins, and in spectacular style. And so did Sena, who showed what great courage and guts at their best can achieve. A tremendous victory in battle. From the same series, the double winner Isabella took bronze. Milay advanced to the final in their own category with a good win, but this time they had to settle for silver despite a strong performance. Elias, Venla, Vivian and Aleksandra gave way in their opening matches, but the performances still promised a lot and everyone went all out to get points in even the most challenging matches.A big thank you to all the athletes, coaches and support staff! It's good to continue from here towards the World Championships.-Pauli Raivio, coach

          Team coach Ville Lehtinen reports.

The Finnish season opened on 8.3. in Loviisa. TU again took home a bunch of medals, with each competitor bringing home at least one trophy. Here are the highlights from the day's races:

          •  Anna's gold medal in the largest women's green belt event of the Games, with 19 competitors
          •  A brilliant debut for Viivi in both the green-belt women's and diesel women's categories, despite the fact that the races in the different categories came one after the other. In the diesel-women's category, the result was a fine silver medal
          •  Alex and Kerttu Salminen (Wondo Espoo) competed together for the first time and considering that, their performances were excellent, bringing silver with a small difference to the gold medalists.

Last year's best were also rewarded, with as many as three prizes going to TU:

          •  2024 Poomseeker of the Year: Marita Jaakkola and Kirsimarja Raitasalo (Also Mansen Taekwondo's Niina Virtala)
          •  2024 Warp Coach of the Year: Ville Lehtinen

In addition, there was the usual TU judging support, as Laura, Marita and Kirsimarja were not only competing but also on the other side of the table and Aino was judging the whole day.

The next competitions in Finland are already in two weeks when the SM Championships and Pori Open will take place in Pori on 22.3.
