Porvoossa kisailtiin

orvoossa kisattiin tuttuun tapaan syyskauden avauskilpailu.

Liikesarjoissa pieni joukkue taisteli urheasti, valitettavasti tällä kertaa monessa sarjassa kirkkaimmat mitalivat karkasivat, vaikka valonpilkahduksiakin nähtiin.

Valmentajat olivat kokonaisuutenaan erittäin tyytyväisiä joukkueen suoriutumiseen kisoissa. Nyt on muutama viikko aikaa terästää taitoja ennen seuraavaa kilpailua, Ambassador’s Cupia. Salilla nähdään!

How do you get to the belt exams?

You can get to the belt exams by collecting enough practice marks from the previous belt exam. We calculate training visits based on recorded workouts, so Please remember to record your exercise with a track tag every time you go to the gym.

The prerequisite for entering the exam is also that you know the things required in the exam, the movement sequences, and follow the rules of behavior in the gym at a sufficient level.

You do not need to register for the exam in advance. However, please let us know if you are not going to participate in the exam after receiving the invitation by email. Also let us know if you didn't receive an invitation, but you think you should have a belt test

What is required in the belt test?

In the belt exam, you need to know the technical requirements of the exam and the sets of movements. The requirements of the previous exams also still have to be mastered.

Practice instructions for belt tests

How should you prepare for the exams?

The best preparation for the exam is to attend training actively and versatile. For example, enthusiasts who emphasize match training should also attend basic training from time to time, and correspondingly, those training in basic hobby groups should deepen their skills in the form of match training and movement sets.

Movement sets should be practiced especially well, because they gather almost all the techniques required in the exam and embody the ability of the enthusiast to rhythm the techniques and generate strength in them. After learning a new movement sequence, repeat it as much as possible.

In the weeks before the exam, movement sets are also repeated more than usual in training.

What does the exam cost and how is it billed?

You can find our belt test price list:

Pori Ruspuutto 2 tournament was sunny for taekwondo athletes

The Roospuutto 2 tournament in Pori on 7.9. was a success. A strong team in the sports series took theirs and the girls of the beginners' team also brought gold to Helsinki, while the boys were left without a medal.

Business series

Marita and Kirsimarja started the race day in the Over 50 Female category. Great performances from both and the result was gold for Marita and bronze for Kirsimarja, with silver very close for Kirsimarja. Next up was the Pairs Over 30 series, where Laura and Ville competed as a pair, and Marita with new partner Elia Zolfaghar (Manse). For Marita and Elia the result was fourth place, for Ville and Laura the silver medal with an annoyingly small difference of 0,01 points to the gold medallists.

After a break of one series, Laura and Ville continued to the Groups over 30 series, where they competed with their own groups. After a tough competition, gold went to Ville, Tatu Iivanainen (Mudokwai Vantaa) and Jeppe Aukio (Taekwondo Vihti) and silver to Laura, Miia Siutila (Budokwai) and Laura Wild (Mudokwai Vantaa). Laura then had another break of only one series before her individual series, Under 40 Female. Laura took the gold with a confident grip, leaving her teammates Miia and Laura to the fainter medals.

Immediately after Laura it was Sofia's turn in the pairs under 17 series with her trusted partner Lassi Kaasinen (Herttoniemi). The slightly younger competitors were no match for the experienced pair and the result was a gold medal with a clear difference. Later in the afternoon it was Sofia's turn in the individual series (Juniorit Female), which was the biggest of the ranking series. Sofia had a very solid performance already in the first round, as she advanced to the final in 2nd place, only 0,06 points behind the number one. In the final round, the level of performance remained stable as did the ranking, resulting in a silver medal.

So once again, great success to the Taekwondo athletes! Another great detail of the Pori Games was the recovery of the recently scarce judging situation, as for the first time in Finland we were able to compete with a seven-judge system, even on both mats, which is familiar from the World Championships and European Championships.

U17 female: Sofia 2.
U40 Female: Laura 1.
O50 Female: Marita 1.
Cherry series 3.
U17 Pair: Sofia & Lassi (Herttoniemi) 1.
O30 Pair: Laura & Ville 2.
Marita & Elia (Manse) 4.
O30 Team: Ville, Jeppe (Vihti), Tatu (Mudokwan) 1.
Laura, Miia (Budokwai), Laura (Mudokwan) 2.

Success from the business series Austrian Open

On June 29-30, 2024, the annual Austrian Open poomsek competitions took place, which have traditionally been one of the biggest poomsek competitions in Europe, and this year the competitions attracted more than 400 participants from many different countries. This year, the Austrian Open also served as the second of the three selection competitions for the World Championships held in Hong Kong in November.

On Saturday, the individual series of all age groups took place, where Aino and Sofia from TU competed in the Female U17 series, Christian Male in the U30 series and Marita in the Female U60 series.

The Junior Female series was huge with 57 participants, so it was divided into two groups, both halves of which made it to the next round to the semi-finals. Aino competed for the first time after the competition break and made it to the semis, while Sofia, despite her good performances, missed the first round. In the semi-finals, the qualifying was rough, as only 8 of the remaining 28 contestants advanced to the finals. Aino made solid and confident performances, but unfortunately came in 10th place and narrowly missed out on the finals.

The U30 and U40 series were played with an elimination system, where the competitors measure each other one against one and the winner always advances to the next round, facing a new opponent. Christian took a clear victory over his opponent in the first round, but in the second round the Norwegian, who finally took the bronze, was better and Christian's final ranking was 9th-16th.

There were two rounds in the Female U60 series, where Marita made her way from the semi-finals to the final round with confidence. Even in the final, Marita made successful performances and the final result was 6th place, right on the heels of World Championship bronze medalist Niina Virtala.

On Sunday, it was the turn of pair and group series, as well as freestyle. Sofia competed in the Pair U17 series with her credit partner Lassi Kaasinen from Herttoniemi and progressed from the semi-finals to the final in the usual style. However, the level was really tough, and the couple who were five short of the European Championship bronze finished 6th in the end.

Marita, on the other hand, competed in the Team Female O30 series with Jenny Nyman and Kati Kuosmanen. This lineup is relatively new, but despite that and thanks to hard training, the performances were successful and the result was 3rd place with Austria taking the silver and Germany the gold.

In the freestyle series, TU was represented by Christian Male in the O17 series. Christian's choreography underwent a small change at the last minute, which did not hinder the process and the performance went brilliantly. The silver medal was close, but Germany's stalwart Steven Behn snagged it, giving Christian a respectable bronze medal to take home.

The third and last selection competition will take place in Zaprešić, Croatia on October 12. to which at least part of TU's competition team is heading.

      Results of TU11 athletes:

      Aino Kortelainen, junior girls, 10.
Sofia Sarala, junior girls, was eliminated in the first round
      Christian Kamphuis, MU30, 9.-16.
      Christian Kamphuis, MO-17 freestyle, 3rd.
      Marita Jaakkola, FU60, 6.
Sofia Sarala&Lassi Kaasinen (Herttoniemi), junior pairs, 6.
Marita Jaakkola, Jenny Nyman, Kati Kuosmanen, Team F060, 3.

      "Champions" in Andorra

A short travelogue of Sampo, Teemu and Petter's trip to Andorra to meet Master Mun Dong Kun (Kukkiwon 9th Dan).

The "champions" set off on Thursday, and on the way to Andorra they stopped first in Munich and then in Barcelona, where Spain's own product Seat Ateca became the passing game. We got there around eleven in the evening. The drive went comfortably, as the roads were quite empty at that time. On the other hand, we didn't see much of the scenery, when we were traveling in the dark. The champion was still greeted from the evening and it was agreed that we will start training on Friday at 11:00. Hotel Yomo Mola Park provided the refreshments. The hotel was really good and the breakfasts were better. The "masters" sincerely recommend.

Andorra is a pretty epic place for trampers, even in rainier weatherAndorra is a pretty epic place for trampers, even in rainier weather.

The morning workout was a really good idea. We managed to get out of the jams of traveling on our own. In addition, we did movement sets with the master. In the evening, we continued with the master and the master's students, who became familiar with Zu-zu, Marius and Erika. The master's son Carlos also joined the training. At the end of the evening's training, we thanked ourselves when we had done the morning jumps carefully. In the training, we did - in the words of the master - "little pal-chagi". Loosely translated as "a few basic kicks", i.e. kick and punch series until exhaustion. Finally, shared meals with the master, Carlos and Marius, and at the end of the evening it was agreed that we would continue again at 11:00 the next day.

Sweat drips from Petter onto the carpetSweat dripped from Petter onto the carpet.

In Saturday's morning training, the champion had a new gear in mind. The master kept the kick goals himself and made sure that the pace was sufficient. When it was over, the whole group was, in one word, "done". Petteri came up with a suggestion at the end of lunch that we start the evening workouts today at six, which suited everyone. Petter's idea was that if we start at six, we can finish at eight. It didn't quite go according to plan. At nine o'clock the master said that we shouldn't stop, that we should eat something.

Teemu has an oxygen deficiencyTeemu had a slight oxygen deficiency.

On Sunday, we continued again at eleven, and through the repetitions, the movement sequences were memorized. The end result is that now we know all the movement sequences of the memory belts, or at least Petteri and Teemu do. On Sunday evening, having learned from the previous day, the training started just from the standstill. First we did the warm-ups and then we went through the movement series and finally the champion said "little pal-chagi", and even now the lack of oxygen was not avoided. On Sunday evening, the atmosphere could again be described with the word "very ready".

Master Mun put steak on the table so that the boys could handle itMaster Mun put steak on the table so that the boys could sled.

A very nice surprise was that a very honest Finnish sauna was found in the master's gym and Carlos turned out to be a very enthusiastic sauna user. What's better than tiring yourself out in training first and then a sauna and a cold shower.

      "Champions" on the rafts”Mestarit” lauteilla

On Monday, I traveled home and arrived in Helsinki shortly before midnight. The trip was very rewarding and the following plans were already started during the trip. More about them soon, so stay tuned. All we have to do is keep ourselves nimble and flexible.

We really trained a little, so that it didn't turn out to be tourism
We really trained a little, so that it didn't turn out to be tourism. Warm-up and stretching to go.

A very happy summer to everyone who read this far!
