26.8.2017 Opening of the Pumse competition season in Rauma

Valku's competition greetings

The pumsen competition season opened today in Rauma. TU was represented by Sofia, Victoria, Bella, Tiitu, Alex, Aino and Plum. As a coach, it was a pleasure to watch the performances from the side of the mat, when all the competitors performed very good sets of moves. The results showed that even during the summer, there was also time to train in addition to vacations. As usual, Plum, Aino, Sofia, Victoria and Bella performed very well in all series. Tiitu and Alex also achieved similar top performances today.

At the same time, let's open up the world of business series a little for those who haven't had time to go to the competitions yet. Exercises for movement series proceed in a few stages. First of all, of course, you have to learn the techniques and positions of the movement sequences. After this, we learn to remember the movement sequence as a whole. Then the exact making of the comma begins, when the starting and ending places and trajectories of the techniques are put in place. After that, we move on to looking at the positions and finally we learn to produce force at exactly the right points. Written like this, it sounds very easy, but in practice it required a really large number of high-quality exercises to reach top performances.

The whole team exuded a good feeling and performance, which was complemented by cheers and applause from the stands.

Thanks to the athletes and supporters. This is very good to continue towards the coming autumn dawns.

Peter

Strong competence in the August belt exams

The fall season started quickly with belt exams

Those who trained hard in the summer were able to increase their belt value right at the beginning of the autumn season, adults on Thursday 24.8 and juniors on Friday 25.8. Pauli oversaw the test for adults, and Petteri made sure on Friday that everyone who tried really earned their belt.

In both tests, the technical competence was excellent. A few yellow and green belt enthusiasts showed amazingly advanced technical skills, and the multi-talents who completed the upper belt grades passed section after section with commendable marks. Maybe a little more of that rumored attitude and spirit would have been needed in the belt test. The best way to dig out the last shreds of yourself in every technique and scream is to practice hard even in the basic exercises. So nothing but training and KIHAP!

Big congratulations from taekwondo athletes to those who have completed their new belt values!

Essi's good racing spirit was not enough to win the EUC races

Essi represented Finland at the European University Games organized in Portugal in the women's individual series of the movement series. The competition took place with an elimination system, where both contestants do their performance at the same time and at the end the judges evaluate the winner with a blue and a red flag. Essi showed two good race performances, but unfortunately did not get a further place. However, it is good to continue from this to the Universiade in Taipei in August.
