Matti Sairanen did not succeed in the Eekwondo European Championships for the disabled in Warsaw, Poland. In the first round, he lost to Italy's Antonio Bossolo 15-3 before full time. Bossolo is ranked 4th in the world, while Matti's ranking is 12th. Matti competes in the disability category K44 in the weight category under 61 kg.
