Good luck with the PM competitions from Denmark

The PM competitions took place on January 30, 2016 in Fredericia, Denmark. Taekwondo athletes brought home 4 gold and 2 silver medals.

Eddie Quinones competed in the cadet boys' -57 kg category. Eddie was the only cadet boy of the Finnish team who won 3 matches. Finally, a gold medal was hung around the neck.

Emilia Lahti took only one match, which she won with a point difference of 13-0 at the end of the second set. Bringing gold from the cadet girls' -47 kg category.

Aleksi Väyrynen competed in the junior boys' -51 kg category. He won his first match sovereignly, but an old metatarsal problem prevented him from playing in the finals, so he brought home silver.

Tuikku Holopainen took two matches in the cadet girls' -44 kg series. In the final, she faced Elisa Toivonen and lost with two strong warnings 0-1. So you're taking silver with you on the way home.

Milla Väyrynen moved from cadets to juniors and in the -49 kg category the resistance was tough. The Dane who won the series was stronger, older and more experienced. That way, there was only experience left in the amount of one lost match.

In the movement series, Essi Labart and Christian Kamphuis took gold in the pairs series, and Christian did another hard performance by taking gold in the men's individual series in a small fever. In the individual series, Essi was 6th, being the best Finn in her own series. Essi also competed in the group series, where he finished fourth.

Big congratulations to the whole team on behalf of the coaching staff!

Taekwondo athletes' first indoor competition of the spring

The first indoor competition of the year will be held on Friday 29.1. Participant lists are not collected in more detail in advance, but you can ask the instructors for the latest information about possible opponents. As before, visiting clubs are warmly welcome to join. The schedule is familiar:

19:00-21:00 – C1, B1, A1 and H (can be started on a rolling basis even earlier at the end of the junnum races)

Indoor competitions can also be attended by those who have just started and those who have less experience. Opponents are always judged according to skill level and weight/height. Those trying it for the first time can borrow the club's loan protections, but own protections are recommended. You can easily buy all the protection you need for matches and training at the gym's equipment store.

On Sunday, there is a free shift in the gym and a competition stand

Competitive spirit and sparring

Those who are not going all the way to Turkey to experience the Olympic qualifiers can come over the weekend to watch Teemu and Suvi's preliminaries on the large TV screen in the hall. Along with the grandstand, the hall's carpet and equipment are freely available for independent training. Those looking for sparring opponents should be there around 12-2pm, when a free-form sparring ring is held. Juice, coffee and small snacks are also available.

The matches of the qualifying tournament start at 10:00, when the hall doors also open. The hall will be occupied as long as there are Finns participating in the tournament, but at least until 15:00. You should also watch Jenna and Toni's matches on Saturdays from home!

Welcome aboard!
