[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image media=”10927″ media_width_percent=”100″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]

Eddie's and Sara's medals are the highlight of almost a week's competition

The taekwondo athletes competed in Helsingborg, Sweden, both in the Presidents Cup held during the week and in the Helsingborg Open organized right after. The Presidents Cup was a G2 tournament, meaning it gave double points in the ranking, while the Helsinborg Open was of G1 value. Eddie Quinones from Vantaa competed in the junior boys' -78 kg category, taking silver from the Helsinborg Open. Eddie's little sister Sara Quinones competed in the highest weight class of cadet girls, taking the Helsingborg Open bronze.

The performances of the rest of the team were unusually low. The flu ruined the competitions of most of the team's athletes. Only Juuli Mankonen and Bardia Mirzaei were able to play a full-weight match in the Helsingborg Open and Chahrazed Boughara in the Presidents Cup, but they too had to bow in the first round. That's why the medals achieved on the last day were a source of great joy for the entire team.

Team:

Juuli Mankonen (PC&HO)
Venne Viitaniemi (HO)
Severi Sarala (HO)
Eddie Quinones (PC&HO)
Sara Quinones (PC&HO)
Janika Tatti (PC&HO)
Iines Korhonen (HO)
Bardia Mirzaei (HO)
Chahrazed Bougharara (PC)
Coaches: Sampo Pajulampi & Eddy Quinones[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The business league team's wild momentum continued in Helsingborg

Taekwondo, Helsinki

Color straight medals from Sweden

The business series team of taekwondo athletes did not rest much on their laurels after the German race, when the trip continued directly to Helsingborg, Sweden for the President's Cup G1 race.

In the adult series, the competition was based on the elimination system, which means that in order to reach the next round, the competitor must always be better than his opponent. Christian Kamphuis won two singles matches and thus advanced to the final. Unfortunately, the final battle ended with a small margin in favor of the Danish opponent. Silver for Christian from a tough race.

In the U-15 series, Aino Kortelainen had quite a performance, which helped her win the entire series. On top of the great performance, Aino also took silver with Alex Jürgens in the U15 pairs. Also, Alex's strong hold continued in the individual series and the result was bronze, just like in Germany. Unfortunately, Sofia Sarala did not advance to the final round in the U15 series.
