Juho and Teemu at the Paris Open

The Paris Open, which served as a general practice for the Olympic qualifiers, went moderately well for the Finns. Suvi Mikkonen won two matches and lost to Great Britain's Jade Jones, the series' reigning World Cup silver medalist. Juho Kostiannen also won two matches, but lost to Italy's Claudio Treviso in the third round. Teemu Heino's path to the first round against Croatia's Vedran Golec was already cut off with a 2-2 referee's decision, as even the Extra Set did not bring clarity about the winner.

The Paris Open was the last big tournament before the European Olympic Qualifying Tournament at the end of January.
