The open day for taekwondo athletes was a success. There were a lot of people, especially children. Taekwondo interested me more than before, as expected. The club is increasingly well-known in the region, and the increased visibility of the sport with the Olympics didn't hurt at all. There were enough enthusiastic people for all the training sessions, and there was also enough activity between the training sessions.
Free training months were won by the following lucky people:
Mårten Jakobbsen
Niilo Pajoja
Tiina Räsänen
Good luck to the winners!
24 lollipops were distributed in the kicking competition.
On Saturday, August 25, 2012, an open day will be held at the Taekwondo athletes' hall, like last year, where those interested in the sport can get to know taekwondo and Taekwondo athletes. Current enthusiasts are also welcome to join to create an atmosphere and hustle together. The open house is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., during which time there will be a small competition, introductory training sessions for those who are interested, etc... We will give three lucky people a free month of training! After the open day, we will also start new basic groups, where new enthusiasts start learning taekwondo. Even enthusiasts who have just started before the start of new groups can join a new basic group if necessary.
Familiarization trainings for all ages are organized at 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00. Take indoor exercise equipment, a drinking bottle and a towel with you.

The contribution of taekwondo athletes at the Taekwondo Festival held in Turku over the weekend was strong. Petteri Kauppinen was part of a distinguished group of directors, whose most famous name was the Korean grandmaster Kang. The other instructors were master Mun, Jesus Ramal and Suvi Mikkonen.
The gala organized on Sunday also featured a team competition, which TU11 won with the team of Hilla Palvianen, Jenna Partanen (Tapiola Taekwondo Hwang), Mika Koistinen, Elom Damalie and Juho Ranta.
Yesterday, there were serious and playful indoor competitions at the TU11 gym. In the afternoon, the juniors in five countries started the competition with a common warm-up and it continued smoothly with matches. 8 juniors were present and 11 matches were played. After the juniors finished, the atmosphere started to thicken, as a slightly older crowd started pouring in. There were a whopping 21 competitors in the adult games, which also seems to be TU11's participant record on the adult side. A whopping 30 matches were played during the evening, according to the accounting.
This time IR judge Tatu Iivanainen was also reviewing the games. Tatu did a decent day's work acting as center judge for both juniors and adults. On behalf of the club and the players, many thanks to Tatu. You are more than welcome again. In addition to Tatu, we also had international company, when Jesus Ramal, the personal coach of Finland's Olympic representative Suvi Mikkonen, was there to feel the atmosphere of the competition and cheer on the competitors.
