The poom test crowned the belt test week for Taekwondo athletes

Excellent level in the Poom exam!

In Konala, we got to witness the results of determined training as Sara Quinones, Bella Buuri, Victoria Hentunen and Iines Korhonen showed their skills in the poom test. For enthusiasts under 15 years old, the Poom rank corresponds to the DAN rank, i.e. black belt.

Sara already completed the 3rd Poom value and the other test takers are doing the 1st Poom. The test day was the culmination of years of determined and hard work, and the test subjects really showed that a lot of lessons have been learned along the way.

The test started in the morning with Petter's intensive technique section, where the entire spectrum of taekwondo techniques was reviewed, from kicks to hand techniques and steps. There was enough speed in the test as well as the trialists, and even the intense kick rallies did not freeze the trialists.

After the technical part, the trainees demonstrated their knowledge of the sport in the theory test and at the same time gathered strength for the afternoon wrestling part.

The test continued with Paul's fighting part, where the test takers' ability to apply technique was tested in the form of step fights, self-defense and a taekwondo match. At the end, speed was still sought with jump kicks and smashes.

At the end of the day, it was easy for Paul and Petter to say that the performance was excellent throughout, and all the test takers had earned their belts. One milestone has now been completed, but there are still many challenges ahead

Big congratulations to the new Poom values and good luck with your future training!

Excellent level in the belt tests throughout the week

In addition to the Poom tests, all age groups, except for small children, completed another belt test last week under the watchful eye of Paul and Minna.

On Tuesday, new belt values were completed by adults and young yellow belts and green belts. The level of the group was amazing and I strongly recommend everyone to actively participate in additional exercises in the future, such as the amateur movement series and match. The intensive training was reflected in the performances.

the same can be said about the test for superior children on Wednesday and the test for superior youth and adults on Thursday. The basic level was high, but those who have actively delved deeper into the aspects of the sport beyond the basic training were able to excel.

On Friday, Minna received the groups of yellow and green ribbons. Again, the performances were great, although there was a little fumbling in the movement sequences. All you have to do is bravely participate in Tuesday's amateur movement series training, where poomsae are actively practiced.

Congratulations to everyone on their new belt ranks!

TU11 strongly represented in the youth and cadet national teams

Now the selected athletes do not get to measure their level on international fields, because WT has canceled practically all value competitions for this year.

Taekwondo athletes 2011 warmly congratulates those selected for the national teams. In addition, the club would like to thank all the coaches, parents and others who supported us along the way. We express our special thanks To Autokeskus and To Pohjola Hospital for your support on the way to success.

Versatile training pays off

In the basic groups of taekwondo athletes, all aspects of the sport are practiced comprehensively and physical qualities are developed in a variety of ways. In addition to these, the price of the basic contract includes a comprehensive package of various additional exercises with which you can deepen your skills in a certain area or raise your fitness to a new level.

We recommend to all our enthusiasts at least one additional exercise per week in addition to the basic exercises. The most enthusiastic, of course, choose workouts for almost every day.

An amateur match

In the amateur match, you get to know the basics of match taekwondo and, of course, you also have sparring matches with a calm attitude. In an amateur match, safety comes first and protection is always carried during training. The group is suitable for anyone over the age of 12 who is interested in the match. Also for 7-12-year-olds there is a dedicated amateur match class on Tuesdays. The amateur match is also a good starting point for the journey towards the competition groups of the match.

Hobby shop series

In the amateur movement series on Monday, the basics of movement series are practiced and, of course, new movement series are studied. In the training, we also dig deeper than basic training into the secrets of steps, hand techniques, kicks and power generation. A very good workout for all enthusiasts, for example as part of a belt test. All enthusiasts who have learned the first set of movements can join the exercise. Children aged 7-12 have their own amateur movement series training on Tuesdays.

General physical skills, games and games

This exercise is intended for all enthusiasts aged 7-15. As the name suggests, the training involves practicing physical skills comprehensively, taking into account the requirements of children and young people's periods of sensitivity. We especially emphasize acrobatics, mobility, body control, coordination and speed training. The group is a successor to the previously held acrobatics group, so all enthusiasts interested in acrobatics can join. In the classes, we also play various physical games and play games that develop the aforementioned qualities.

Accompanying training for adults

Additional training for adults consists of three separate exercises, fitness circuit, core and stretching.

The fitness circuit is a high-performance muscle fitness and endurance exercise. Movements are performed either with the body's own weight or with small additional weights. The main focus in the exercises is on practicing basic strength and strength endurance with the help of changing themes. The fitness circuits are suitable for beginners as well as wash-resistant strongmen and women. The number of repetitions and intensity can be customized to suit everyone.

Core exercises focus on strengthening the muscles of the upper body. The goal is to build a strong core that supports other training, supports body control and mobility, and prevents back and joint problems.

In stretching exercises, several different methods are applied with the goal of a more mobile and healthier body overall. The stretches are not only limited to static and passive muscle stretches, but also joint movements and active stretching are taken into account. The stretching exercise is specially designed to support taekwondo training, but is suitable for everyone who is interested in a better moving and stretching body.

Free exercise

Enthusiasts over the age of 15 can also train independently at the gym on Saturdays from 13:00 to 14:00. There is an instructor there, from whom you can ask for tips for your own training if necessary.

Racing groups

Athletes with different goals train in competition groups, but all of them have in common a strong desire to improve and to put in the effort for results. The higher training fee for competition groups entitles you to attend all possible training sessions that can be found in the gym. In addition, athletes have the right to use the hall for their own training. Maybe you too will become an athlete in the competitive teams of Taekwondo athletes. Ask your coach for more information today!

We hope to see you in further training as soon as possible!

Bring a friend to training!

As soon as school starts, we spend friends' week at the gym.

During friend week, you can take a friend along to your own exercises, even if he has no previous experience in exercise.

During buddy week, the exercises are planned so that you can do the exercises with your friend, and the one who has practiced for longer advises and helps the other.

If a friend starts a hobby with Taekwondo athletes, the person who brought their friend will get a -20% discount for their next billing period! The friend offer is valid even after a week until the end of September, so all enthusiasts should bring their friends to work out.

We are having an open house on Sunday, August 30. from 12:00 to 16:00. Make sure that all your friends and acquaintances are at the gym at that time too!

Note! The friend week exercises concern basic groups. Competition exercises and additional exercises are initially unnecessarily challenging for a new experimenter.
