Summer camps for taekwondo athletes

Registration for summer camps is open!

The traditional summer camps will be organized this year, as usual, in the first weeks of June. At summer camps, taekwondo is practiced in a relaxed atmosphere and it doesn't matter if you have previous experience in the sport. There are suitable and inspiring challenges and experiences for everyone. In addition to taekwondo training, summer camps involve going outside every day, inventing exercise games in the gym, eating a tasty lunch at a nearby lunch restaurant, relaxing by watching a movie and having fun in every way! Registration for the camps is now open, so register now!

About the camps

Timing:

1st camp 4.-8.6.
2nd camp 11.-15.6.

Target group: Children and young people aged 7-15

Price: €175/camp or €300 both camps including:

All camp exercises and programs
Lunch at the lunch restaurant (Special diets taken into account in the offer)
Afternoon snack (You can also bring your own snacks)
Other possible expenses

Schedule:

Doors open at 9:00
The actual program between 10:00 and 15:00
You can stay in the gym until 5:00 p.m. A responsible adult is always present

A wonderful medal haul from the German Open of business series

The Finnish business league team was extremely successful on February 24-25. in the organized German Open competition. Medals were won, even though the series were quite big and the level was generally tough. Taekwondo athletes also took their share of this medal haul.

Aino's amazing performances brought gold from the girls' 8-11 year old series, as Aino left 11 other girls behind. Last year's EC bronze team of Christian, Olli (Budokwai) and Frans (Budokwai) has continued to perform hard in one race after another, and even now a strong synchro performance brought silver to their necks. The performance of the cadet trio of Sara, Helmi (Pori) and Mia (EHT) was also strong, and the bronze medal shows the excellent success of the day. Similarly, Ville and Triinin (Budokwai) took bronze in the U40 doubles series.

Big congratulations to all the medalists!

The price changes take effect on March 1, 2018

The price changes for taekwondo athletes were announced in January in the newsletter, and the new prices will take effect on March 1, 2018. In all contracts, the new prices are applied at the start of the next billing period, and for 10 cards when the current card expires. The new prices can be found From the price list and for belt tests from the belt test price list. The price increases have been kept as modest as possible.

Why are there price increases?

The prices have not been revised for a few years, and at the same time, several new exercises included in the contract price have been added to all exercise groups (Amateur match, amateur movement series and acrobatics exercise)
In August 2018, taekwondo athletes will move to new, larger facilities to train, which will increase not only the amount of training space but also the quality significantly
The feedback system for belt exams is being developed so that in the future everyone from green belt upwards will receive personal feedback on the belt exam by email after the exam. It is therefore easier to monitor your own development and development targets

Loviisa's race report

The Loviisa Open opened the league season of domestic match competitions

Loviisa's competition has held its place year after year as the season's opening league competition in Finland. As usual, the Taekwondo athletes were there with a big and enthusiastic team.

A small, but hot team in the amateur series

In the morning, illness basically taxed the bigger team and finally Kaisla, Nooa and Teresa were seen on the field. Kaisla played a good and even match, but this time the opponent was slightly better. Nooa, on the other hand, was completely superior in his match, but a peculiar line of judges took Nooa's gold medal when Nooa received warnings from situation after situation, in which there would have been no place for a warning in Kouts' eyes. Noa was therefore fully warned even though he was in an overwhelming lead. Teresa won her opening match with accurate headers and thus cleared her way to the final. Unfortunately, the opponent was a few points better and Teresa had to settle for silver.

A good start to the season in the league series

In the afternoon, Taekwondo athletes were seen on all the fields at a steady pace, and Sampo, Petteri and Pauli, who acted as coaches, didn't bother to leave the fields much. Iines and Porvoon Juuli organized two almost back-to-back thrilling performances when they faced each other in the finals of the -33kg and -37kg cadet series. The first was scored by Juuli with a last-minute header, but in the second Iines showed how to score points through long kicking series and strong attacks. The result is a gold medal around Iines' neck. Venne stomped his own series with quite superior performances. Venne showed once again that when the foot is raised, a point is also taken with it. Janika, Plum and Sami all cleared their way to the finals, but the momentum of the day was not enough for victories. Everyone had the tactics well under control, but the execution still requires a little fine-tuning to turn these into wins. Alina and Aleksi tested their wings for the first time in the league series, and not at all with the craziest performances. Both were able to notice that their skills are quite sufficient even against tougher opponents, even though the opponents were still better on the scoreboard. Opening losses for Lauri, Luca and Kian as well, but really good matches too. Purposeful training begins to appear as confidence in one's own doing.

Technically, the team was in very good shape, but in training we still need to emphasize the ability to solve situations and the importance of the basic dune in building situations. Matches are won one situation at a time by sticking to your own tactics and being able to solve tight situations to your advantage. With these training fins, we will start building an even more efficient team for the Nurmijärvi Games.

March belt exams

7-15 year olds on Friday 9.3
- 17:00-18:00 – 7-15 year old yellow belt winners
- 18:00-19:00 – 7-15-year-old green ribbon finishers
- 19:00-20:30 – 7-15 year old blue ribbon and blue belt winners
- Those who complete red ribbons and upper belts will take part in the exam on Thursday 8.3. with adults performing higher belts
- Those who do not have an exam have exercises as normal
Adults on Tuesday 6.3. and on Thursday 8.3.
- Tuesday 6.3. 20:00-21:30 belt test for lower belts (yellow-second degree green belts)
- Thursday 8.3. 18:30-21:00 Belt exam for upper belts (blue belts and upper belts)
- Those who do not have an exam have exercises as normal
Getting to the belt exam requires, depending on the belt rank, a sufficient number of exercises and training months from the previous belt exam. Instructors check the training times in the login system. An invitation will be sent by e-mail to all participants in the belt test. The list can also be seen at the instructor's desk in the hall about a week before the exam. Please also make sure that you know the questions asked in the belt test by checking the belt test instructions on the wall of the gym or by asking your coach for more information.
Note! An invoice for the belt test will be sent before the test. By paying the bill, you register for the belt test. If you want to pay for the exam in cash on the spot, let us know in advance. The prices of belt tests can be found From the price list

Taekwondo athletes indoor competition 24.2.

The February gym competition opens the spring gym competition league

On Saturday 24.2. the first gym competition of the spring for taekwondo athletes is organized. The competition has changed its location from the traditional Friday evening to Saturday, so that you can take just as long as there is enough power, and it is easy to go and compete even further away. In addition, the competition opens a new exciting salicab league, which has three competitions in the spring. After the last competition, the best boy, girl, man and woman will be awarded with a product prize offered by Pro Dobok Finland. The awardees are selected by comparing the points scored, the number of matches played, the number of wins and the board of trustees' evaluations of the participants.

You don't have to register separately for the indoor games, it's enough to be there in good time on Saturday and inform the counter of your name, match series and weight. The price of indoor competitions is €10/competition or €25/whole league.

All series start at the same time, so that on one mat there are matches of beginners and Juniors and on the other, matches of ranking series players. Electric armor is used on both courts, but if the competitor is missing electric socks, points can also be given manually. Electric helmets are also in use on the R1 field.

Training of taekwondo athletes on a skiing holiday

Weekday evening exercises as usual

This year, the school skiing holidays are scheduled for February 17-25. Practices for taekwondo athletes are normally held during the skiing holiday, excluding both Sundays, when no practices are organized. Saturday 24.2. an indoor competition for Taekwondo athletes is held, which you should not miss.

Sehoon Jang as a guest of Taekwondo athletes 12.-13.2.

Don't miss this top name at the international level

SeHoon Jang is e.g. 2008 world champion and 2015 Universiade gold medalist. In addition, he has been the head coach of Peru's successful business league national team from 2011-2017 and belongs to the prestigious Doboksori Youth Community!

The children's business league team is on fire in Germany

Great rankings from a tough competition

The children's business team had their first contact with the international competition mats in Sindelfingen, Germany, where 1. European President's Cup for Children gathered a bunch of young competitors to measure each other both in movement series and in the match. Added excitement to the game was the possibility of getting a place in the European Cadets Championship or WT's Multi European Cadets Championships for 9-11 year olds. The competition spot was released by finishing in the top four in their series. Taekwondo athletes in the competition were represented by Sofia, Bella, Victoria and Alex of the children's movement series team. The girls competed in the individual and group series, and Alex only in the individual.

Cadet-age Alex competed in the blue-belt category and brought home the brightest medal from Germany this time. The solid performances left no doubt as to who dominated the series today. The medals around the necks of Sofia, Bella and Victoria from the group series were just as bright. The girls' performances become more uniform from race to race, and we can still expect a lot from this group. The girls all competed in the same individual series and were all close to the prize places. This time the order was Sofia's fourth place, Vickan's vito place and Bella's weaver place. Great rankings from a tough series!

Only a great trip to the US Open

Aino competed in both competition formats in Las Vegas

For the second year in a row, Aino applied for international competition experience at the US-Open held in Las Vegas, where the level is international top in all series. The children's series also gather plenty of participants from across the seas.

In business series, Aino was one of 18 girls who aimed to win the series. Confident performances propelled Aino to ninth place, i.e. just outside the final round. So Aino didn't get to show his nails in the final, but ninth place is a hard performance in this race.

In the match, Aino found a good focus on his first match and won the thrilling play 3-0. In the second match, Kaelin Chan of the USA, who won the series by far, stepped against her. This time, the keys were not found against the skilled Jenk, but all the more valuable experience.

As it should be in a good competition trip, after the competition, getting to know the local sights and culture continued.
