Very nice Easter holidays everyone!
The long distance didn't hurt when the strike group of poomsae minions went south all the way from Kuopio to get the medals. In the Kuopi Open 2017 tournament, 50 business series competitors measured themselves against each other, most of whom, however, participated in more than one series. The team of taekwondo athletes was able to carry medals home with their backs wrong, as there were enough representatives for the whole day. Coach Essi can once again be satisfied with the team's performance, and we are allowed to expect a lot from Korso's upcoming competition. Let's go there with the biggest team ever to take home the wins!

The taekwondo athletes were on the move with a 24-person team in the Nurtzi Open competitions held in Nurmijärvi, where this year no less than 449 kickers competed against each other. There were no free medals when there were teams from Finland, Spain, Estonia, Sweden, Latvia, Iceland and Israel. The success of the taekwondo athletes is indicated by the fact that they went home in third place with the best club standing under their arms.
The competitive spirit of the league contenders is clearly starting to be on point. There were enough top moments for everyone, but the series victories of Emmi, Tuiku, Sara, Bardia and Eddie were especially memorable. The nationalities of the opponents did not weigh much when Emmi and Tuikku's opponents fell one after the other with clear numbers. Bardia's tactics changed on the fly against the Icelandic opponent in the final when the opponent's warning account started to fill up. Bardia ran forward with speed, forcing his opponent to make repeated mistakes and finally got him to be discus. Sara and Eddie once again showed how to score points with a high percentage. Lauri, Luca and Plum also got international competition experience, but this time they lost in the opening rounds. Sam's flu froze his legs after the first round that started well. Aino won his first match, but after a long stretch in the second match, the Estonian resistance pulled a longer one. Similarly, Jenny's long Swedish resistance took the win, but Jenny's movement and swagger were amazing to watch. Unfortunately, Juri was drawn directly to the final against Eddie and took home the silver from the mutual struggle of the teammates.
Iine's point mill started once again in the first match and did not stop grinding until a fair point win in the final. A hard kick combined with reasonable use promises good things in the future. Janika also won the series with a mature and accurate match. Especially Janika's business worked perfectly. The same exact and careful search for scoring positions was also shown by Aleksi, who had to stop in the middle of his second match due to a leg injury. Venne, Henri and Joonas each won their opening matches, but had to admit defeat in others. Opening losses for Risto, Frans, Kaisla, Teemu and Markus.
Juho, Pauli, Riina were the coaches in the games and Alberto Celestrin was the guest star. A big thank you to Alberto and the other coaches, as well as the whole team and the maintenance crew!
See you at the gym!

Multiple A-class / G-tournament winner, Cuban-born German, Alberto Celestrin arrives in Finland and as a guest of TU11. In order to take advantage of Alberto's quick visit, we will organize a match camp at TU11's Konala hall on the Sunday after the Nurmijärvi Games. There will be a couple of hard-level workouts for each training group.

Tentative schedule:
10:00 – 11:20 Children + Cadets (ages 7-14)
11:30 – 13:00 Trains + Adults (+15 years)
13:40 – 15:00 Children + Cadets (ages 7-14)
15:10 – 16:30 Trains + Adults (+15 years)
The division of groups can be modified if, based on those who registered in advance, the groups are of substantially different sizes. Those registered will be informed about the changes on this page, on FB and by e-mail immediately, if the need for changes surprises.
Pre-registration is not necessary, but if there are more visitors than the hall can accommodate, those who have registered will naturally have priority, Pre-registration by email: info@tu11.fi.
The price of the camp day is €30, on the spot in cash. The price includes hall accommodation Sat-Sun, if someone coming from further afield wants to stay directly from the Nurtsi Games.
You can't really overstate the advertising of this guy's skill, you should come and see for yourself!

WELCOME FROM NEAR AND FAR!
Christian, Olli Siltanen (Budokwai) and Frans Salmi (Budokwai) took bronze in the U30 men's groups. The group was also the best European group, which bodes well for the upcoming European Championships. In general, the level of competition was really tough, when there was, for example, Taiwan's efficient and numerous national team, which cleaned the tables especially in the U-30 series. However, in his challenging elimination chart of his individual series, Christian advanced three rounds to places 9th-16th.
Top performance!
Plum Kopisto and Aino Kortelainen also showed their poomsae skills on international fields. Plum advanced to the final round in the cadet series from among 19 competitors. The final ranking with Plum was sixth, and the medal was really not behind the impossible points. Unfortunately, Aino was the only participant in his series, but the effective performances did not leave anyone cold.
On Sunday, on the side of the match, Plum continued his work in the cadet series. The opposing German was better than Plum this time, but only by a hair. A brisk kicking rally finally ended 15-10. Tuikku Holopainen took care of his first Portuguese opponent with a precise match 5-4. In the next round, the Serb, who faced him, took the even match to his name with the main hit of the extra set. The performances of the athletes in both forms of competition promise a good end of spring in terms of competitions. The race certainty is starting to be found, but there are still a few tweaks to be made. See you in training!
Participation is free for everyone, and you do not need to register separately. Competitors from outside the club are also warmly welcome.
17:00-19:00 – E, D, and C2 (9-12-year-olds and 12-14-year-old beginners)
18:00-19:00 5-6 year olds have their own skills competition
19:00-21:00 – C1, B1, B2, R1 and H (12-14-year-old cadets, +15-year-olds)
If you are not sure which group you should join, feel free to contact the coaches. In particular, larger C2 boats and those planning to transfer to cadet series should ask if more suitable resistors can be found in a later shift. We encourage all new enthusiasts to participate in the games, even if they don't even know what competing means. The first time you can look at the moods or even try it yourself if you feel like it.
Daedo's GEN 2 E armor is in use all evening on one field. Your own E-socks are therefore highly recommended if you want to fight with electric armor. There are also a few loaner socks in different sizes.
You can borrow the missing protectors from the club, but we encourage everyone to buy their own training protectors, which are regularly needed in training as well. Ask more from the gym's equipment store and coaches.
Note! No other exercises will be organized on the day of the Salika competition.
Eddie Quinones was the only representative of Taekwondo athletes in the Dutch G1 tournament. Eddie's goal was gold and at the same time fulfilling the competition criteria. The goal was realized in style, when the reigning Swedish champion of the Nordic countries got a ride in the semi-final. In the final, Eddie knocked down his Dutch opponent in show style 18-2.
Big congratulations to Eddie from the club!
Lohja Open 2017 opened the competition season of domestic business series on Saturday 11.3. The games had a record number of participants and a total of 32 series were played. Of these, Taekwondo athletes were represented in 13 series, 16 of which won a medal. Officially, the best team was not awarded, but it's hard to say better!
From the ranking series, Plum got bronze for cadet boys as well as under 17-parwith Mia from the Espoo Hwarang Team. Aino and Sara competed with a special permit in the cadet series much younger than the others, but it seemed that age doesn't matter much by grabbing a double win in the series. Gold for Aino and silver for Sara. Bronze for Aino, Sara and EHT's Mia from the under 17 group. Bronze for Christian in both the under 30 men and the elimination series.
Essi and Petteri acted as coaches in the competition.
