How do you get to the belt exams?

You can get to the belt exams by collecting enough practice marks from the previous belt exam. We calculate training visits based on recorded workouts, so remember to log your exercise every time you go to the gym.

The prerequisite for entering the exam is also that you know the things required in the exam at a sufficient level and follow the rules of conduct in the gym during the exercises.

You do not need to register for the exam in advance. However, please let us know if you are not going to participate in the exam after receiving the invitation.

What is required in the belt test?

In the belt exam, you need to know the technical requirements of the exam and the sets of movements. The requirements of the previous exams also still have to be mastered. You can find the technical requirements in the training instructions on the hall wall.

We are currently updating the belt test requirements. After the update work, they will also be available in electronic form.

How should you prepare for the exams?

The best preparation for the exam is to attend training actively and versatile. For example, enthusiasts who emphasize match training should also attend basic training from time to time, and correspondingly, those training in basic hobby groups should deepen their skills in the form of match training and movement sets.

Movement sets should be practiced especially well, because they gather almost all the techniques required in the exam and embody the ability of the enthusiast to rhythm the techniques and generate strength in them. After learning a new movement sequence, repeat it as much as possible.

In the weeks before the exam, movement sets are also repeated more than usual in training.

What does the exam cost and how is it billed?

You can find our belt test price list:

https://tu11.fi/taekwondo/hinnasto/vyokoehinnasto/

We will invoice you for the exam by email after the exam.

The fall season for taekwondo athletes starts on August 17.

In autumn, plenty of exercises are available for all age groups

The training times for the autumn season come into force on Monday 17.8.

You can check the practice times in advance HERE >>

In the autumn calendar, there are groups for independent training starting from the age of 3, and in the family courses, even the younger ones can practice this together with their parents.

The age groups are divided into level groups according to the completed belt value. If you are not sure in which level group you should train, feel free to ask your coach. However, the level groups always train at the same time, so switching between groups is easy.

Getting Started in Taekwondo

Starting Taekwondo at Taekwondo Athletes is very easy:

  1. Check your group's practice times and group description HERE >>
  2. Pack your training bag and head to the gym at Ristipellontie 1A
  3. Take part in your first exercises and fill out the registration form at the gym
  4. Get to know the sport and follow me at your leisure for two weeks without commitment!

Read more about getting started HERE >>

Family courses and school groups must be registered separately ON THE COURSE PAGE >>

Welcome aboard!

Covid-19 is taken into account in the planning and implementation of exercises

The Covid-19 situation is better in Finland than in many other countries, but it is very important to continue to do everything we can to prevent the spread of the virus. During the summer, we have practiced according to separate instructions, which you can look at HERE >>

For the fall season, we will give detailed instructions separately on how enthusiasts and coaches should take the instructions and guidelines into account. The most important thing is that you never come to the gym in the slightest pain and wash your hands carefully with soap before and after the exercises.

We gained good experiences in the spring from the production of both video workouts and live workouts. In any case, more video trainings will be produced in the future and we are ready to move quickly to regularly holding live trainings again if the social situation so demands.

We hope that the autumn term can be carried out as planned. Taking into account the virus situation is the responsibility of every enthusiast and coach.

Thank you for all the actions you have shown so far to support club activities!

    Rehearsals continue on June 1.

Taekwondo can also be started in the summer

The Covid-19 epidemic has shown signs of abating in Finland, and restrictions are gradually being eased and lifted. Taekwondo athletes will also return to the training activities organized in the gym right from the beginning of June.

We are all jointly responsible for ensuring that the epidemic does not start accelerating again in Finland. Precautions and anticipation are at the center of all training and activities in the gym.

Read more about measures and changes in training methods >>

For a couple of months now, we have been training with the help of video workouts and live broadcasts. It's nice to be able to start the actual exercises in the gym again.

Beginner groups and advanced groups train in the same groups during the summer, but the age group division remains unchanged. The workouts are designed so that new enthusiasts can easily join in, but there is also a challenge level for the more experienced. In addition, many types of additional training are available for enthusiasts who have more time.

    For new enthusiasts:

    1. Check the training times for your age group from the training calendar
    2. Pack clothes suitable for indoor exercise and a water bottle in a training bag and head out to the gym
    3. The coach will give you a registration form to fill out and give you practical instructions for getting started.
    4. Come along to your first training sessions. The exercises are designed so that even beginners can keep up with the pace.
    5. Feel free to try the hobby for two weeks before you decide to continue.

    For old enthusiasts:

    • Check the summer practice times.
    • In addition to the basic workouts, choose at least an additional workout / week aimed at your age group. The hardest trainers go through all possible exercises.
    • Also take a friend with you to the training!
    • If you paid the training fees for the time the gym is closed, you will get additional services free of charge this summer. Ask your coach for more information.
    • Please note that some of the training sessions are held outside in the summer
      • Children's outdoor training: meeting in the hall's lower hall. Equipment according to the weather. You don't have to be a dobok.
      • Hill training for adults: gathering at Malminkartano's waste hill at the bottom of the stairs. Equipment suitable for running.
      • Athletes' outdoor training will be announced separately Slack through.

    Multiplication of movement sequences 6.6.

Taekwondo exercises will continue in the gym on June 1. and there are plenty of exercises for all groups to choose from. Of course, in all training, safety comes first. Read more >>

It is completely understandable that during the last few months the training may have been less and especially the movement sets may need reminiscing. Some of the enthusiasts who have time to pay for the March belt exams also have a replacement exam in the second week of June, which may also cause a few extra spots in terms of movement sets.

We promised to organize free events in the summer for enthusiasts who paid their training fees even when the gym was closed. This poomsa camp is the first of these camps and more will follow later.

If your contract has not been valid, you can still participate in the camp for €25 or €10/practice.

    Information

    Timing:
    Saturday 6.6.

    Schedule:
    12:00-13:00 Poomsae 1-2

    13:30-14:30 Poomsae 3-4
    14:30-15:00 Break
    15:00-16:00 Poomsae 5-6

    Who is suitable for:
For all enthusiasts. You can participate in all or only part of the exercises. In the exercises, the focus is especially on complete movement sequences and their memorization.

    Registration:
Register using the form below. The maximum number of participants in the camp is 30 people.

      Summer practice times

The summer practice times have been published on the practice times page! and they enter into force on June 1.

When the gathering restrictions are relaxed, 50 people can return to relatively normal training. Of course, it is clear that precautions must still be taken into account in all activities and planning of exercises. We publish detailed instructions for all enthusiasts before the start of summer training, and they are also reviewed with each group in the gym.

There is plenty of training in the summer, so now is an excellent opportunity to make up if your own training has fallen short since the end of spring. For example, there are 9 weekly classes for adults to choose from. The hardest trainers certainly make use of all the training!

Some of the exercises are carried out outside.

      See you at the gym!

Situation overview of taekwondo athletes 11.5.

Read here the latest information regarding the corona situation

The corona epidemic in Finland has progressed to the stage where restrictions are starting to be loosened to the extent that it is safe and justified from the point of view of the functioning of society. For example, starting in June, gatherings will be allowed for a maximum of 50 people, sports facilities will be opened and close-to-school teaching in schools will continue on May 14.

The authorities have yet to provide more detailed instructions regarding sports activities, but it goes without saying that continuing activities as quickly as possible is especially important for children and young people. Taekwondo athletes also strive to quickly return to normal training activities.

Of course, we follow the instructions of the authorities in all activities, and the safety of enthusiasts, coaches and other team members is at the center of our operations. This means that e.g. exercises and general movement and being in the gym are planned so that the probability of the virus spreading is as low as possible. In addition, live exercises online will continue at least until May.

      This week's live workouts

You can find live lessons and links to participate:

      https://tu11.fi/taekwondo/live/

If the page does not show the hours correctly, refresh it by pressing (f5) or from the menu of your device.

You don't need to register for live lessons in advance, it's enough to participate via the website. The link guides you to the implementation of the Zoom service, no matter what your device is. To participate, you need a smart device with a camera, such as a computer, mobile phone or tablet. You can also participate without your own video, but in that case the instructor will not be able to give you feedback.

It's worth clicking on the coach's video after the workout has started, so that it is permanently attached to your screen as an active, i.e. large, video (pin video). You should also turn the sounds off (mute) in your own video, but remember to turn them back on if you want to talk to the coach.

Please remember that you can collect training notes for the belt tests from all the video workouts and live workouts you complete. Younger enthusiasts must get their parents' signature for the completed training. Return your training entries to the gym after opening.

The age divisions are indicative and you can participate in any exercise. For young children, adult exercises may seem difficult, but that does not prevent participation.

So you can join our website's Live! from the section.

      Tue 12.5. 17:00-17:45 – Children (under 12)
Tue 12.5. 18:00-19:00 – Youth and adults + competition groups (Over 12 years old)

Wed 13.5. 17:00-18:00 – Fitness circuit and stretching (all enthusiasts)

      Thu 14.5. 17:00-17:45 – Children (under 12)
Thu 14.5. 18:00-19:00 – Youth and adults + competition groups (Over 12 years old)

Preliminary plan for returning to gym training

18.5. from, small group exercises are held for a maximum of 10 people

With the start of schools, we have decided that in the last two weeks of May, we will organize one practice a week in the gym for all age groups at the same time as the live practices are still running. You must register for the exercises in the gym in advance on May 17. by, so that we can form equal groups. Practice times depend on the final number of registered participants and they will be notified to registered participants separately. No group accepts more than ten enthusiasts, but enough groups are established that everyone who wants to can practice.

May's exercises and being in the gym are planned so that there is no close contact in any of the exercises and a distance of more than a meter is kept from training buddies. Hands are always washed before and after exercises and training equipment is used as little as possible. Used equipment is always disinfected after use. You must not come to the exercises if you have even minor symptoms. The coach has the right to immediately remove the enthusiasts he interprets as sick from training based on his own judgment.

Escorts are not allowed to enter the hall. If you bring and take children to practice, please wait outside the front door in a shed or in the car.

Sign up for the gym exercises in May by sending an email to info@taekwondourheilijat.fi. When registering, mention the hobbyist's name, age, belt rank and whether he practices in a basic group or a competition group.

Live workouts online will continue at least for the whole of May, so enthusiasts can still train from home.

The summer training calendar enters into force on June 1.

In June, when the gathering restrictions are relaxed, we will start more intensive training in the gym, but still with the same considerations as in the training at the end of May. We give even more detailed instructions to all enthusiasts regarding the procedures, and these are also reviewed with all groups in the gym.

In the summer, at least three exercises are organized for all age groups, of which at least one per week is carried out outside.

The summer training calendar will be published on the club's website in the next few weeks.

NOTE! In all our activities, we take into account the regulations and instructions of the authorities, so the club's policies can change quickly.

The belt exams canceled in March will be held right at the beginning of June

A large part of those invited to the March belt exam had time to pay for the exam already in March. Many thanks for this! Enthusiasts who have already paid will have priority when we organize replacement trials at the beginning of June. An invitation to the exam will be sent separately to these enthusiasts.

We will organize more belt test events later in the summer, to which enthusiasts who have diligently collected training marks from live training will be invited, for example.

For all those who paid for their training taste in March-April, a free training month will be added to their current contract

In March and April, we organized a campaign in which we offered a free training month to everyone who paid for their next payment period, and two months if you paid for two training periods at once. We can only humbly thank you for the great support you have shown to the club in a challenging situation!

Free months are added to training contracts automatically, and the next invoice appears in the email as usual only when the entire paid period and the free month have passed.

In addition to this, paid enthusiasts are offered or have been offered:

      • Virtual workouts of the growing library
      • Live training several times a week
      • Self-paced exercise program for home training
      • Possibility to borrow the club's fire mats for your own home training
      • Free camps as soon as the hall is opened
      • No summer break this year, but the exercises will continue without a break throughout the summer, if the situation allows
      • Update or additional services for all contract types:
        • Basic agreement for adults -> A month's training right for the weight room
        • Basic contract for children -> One month training right for the children's competition team

Children's athlete contract -> Free private lesson or lesson with a couple, depending on the age of the enthusiast.

Please remember to actively follow our announcements in the future. Our most important information channel is the news section of your website, which you should read regularly.

Several Nordic championships for taekwondo athletes

Six championships from a tough business series tournament

Business series competitions have been tougher year by year both in Finland and in the Nordic countries, and this time too the series were not only big but also extremely strict. The competition format has also enjoyed great popularity in the gym of Taekwondo athletes, and for the first time in the PM championships, the movement series team was bigger than the match team.

In the individual classes, Plum grabbed the championship trophy to decorate his trophy cabinet at the end of a very successful day. Christian also won the championship in the freestyle series with his flying performance, showing that he is still the number one fist in the Nordics when it comes to freestyle. The taekwondo athletes were part of several pairs and groups of Team Finland and the results speak for themselves. Taekwondo athletes participated in a total of four championship pairs or groups, and there were two silver placements. You can find more detailed results at the end of the news.

Coach Heikki Liukkonen was very satisfied with the team's performance:

"It was a pleasure to watch the performances of TU's competitors, because almost every performance on stage was sharper and more focused than seen in previous competitions and trainings. The atmosphere of a competition bigger than normal domestic competitions only raised the level of performance! The team's increased competition experience starts to show off the stage as well, when the preparation for the competition performance from the youngest competitors is even better - the preparatory warm-ups go admirably on their own and the teammates have a great time with each other! Competitors are starting to find their own style of preparation that suits them."

All in all, the competitions were really successful in light of both the competition performances and the results. It's really easy to be satisfied with these performances!"

Teemu and Jenna as champions on the match side

The match tournament was also high-quality and the series were big. The PM competitions have clearly started to gain respect again in the Nordic countries and there were high-level teams from every country. Teemu has some kind of championship and award on his plate, but that didn't stop him from adding another championship to his trophy cabinet. Teemu tackled the familiar precisely and the opponents didn't have the right weapons to break the defense. Jenna's championship also came with clear match victories, and there was not even a moment of uncertainty as to who won the matches. Jenna's match style, physique and self-confidence start to show in matches as a really effective combination.

There were a gratifying number of taekwondo athletes in the final round, but this time Emmi, Iines, Bardia and Venne had to settle for silver. However, everyone had a great day and you can be very satisfied with the silver. With determined training, silver will turn into gold next year. Sami, Eddie and Milla each won their way to the semi-finals, but had to admit that their opponents were better there. Bronze, however, and excellent openings by all. Severi also fought very well and tactically considering that his right leg was unusable due to an injury. It was not far that Severi would have won his match with one working leg.

Big congratulations to all the medalists for both competition formats!
