Taekwondo athletes put on a great show at Malminkartano's festivities
Taekwondo athletes are already a familiar sight at Malminkartano's festivities, and this year they were there for the seventh time. In this year's display team, Severi Sarala, Emilia Lahti, Laura Orjasniemi, Jenny Vettenniemi, Janika Tatti, Sofia Sarala, Kaisla Seimola and Markus Liuko showed their skills to a large audience in Malminkartano's Piikapuisto. Pauli Raivio directed the show, while Petteri Kauppinen told the audience about the club's activities and the show's content. After the show, it was easy to notice that no one was left cold; especially the screen team members.
Enthusiastic sport testers at the open days
Thank you to everyone who visited on Saturday 26.8. At the open days of taekwondo athletes. The hall was well attended, especially at the beginning of the event. Both children and adults had their first exposure to the sport by practicing basic kicks and it looked good! So there's nothing to do but go to the gym to learn more about training.
The pumsen competition season opened today in Rauma. TU was represented by Sofia, Victoria, Bella, Tiitu, Alex, Aino and Plum. As a coach, it was a pleasure to watch the performances from the side of the mat, when all the competitors performed very good sets of moves. The results showed that even during the summer, there was also time to train in addition to vacations. As usual, Plum, Aino, Sofia, Victoria and Bella performed very well in all series. Tiitu and Alex also achieved similar top performances today.
At the same time, let's open up the world of business series a little for those who haven't had time to go to the competitions yet. Exercises for movement series proceed in a few stages. First of all, of course, you have to learn the techniques and positions of the movement sequences. After this, we learn to remember the movement sequence as a whole. Then the exact making of the comma begins, when the starting and ending places and trajectories of the techniques are put in place. After that, we move on to looking at the positions and finally we learn to produce force at exactly the right points. Written like this, it sounds very easy, but in practice it required a really large number of high-quality exercises to reach top performances.
The whole team exuded a good feeling and performance, which was complemented by cheers and applause from the stands.
Thanks to the athletes and supporters. This is very good to continue towards the coming autumn dawns.

Those who trained hard in the summer were able to increase their belt value right at the beginning of the autumn season, adults on Thursday 24.8 and juniors on Friday 25.8. Pauli oversaw the test for adults, and Petteri made sure on Friday that everyone who tried really earned their belt.
In both tests, the technical competence was excellent. A few yellow and green belt enthusiasts showed amazingly advanced technical skills, and the multi-talents who completed the upper belt grades passed section after section with commendable marks. Maybe a little more of that rumored attitude and spirit would have been needed in the belt test. The best way to dig out the last shreds of yourself in every technique and scream is to practice hard even in the basic exercises. So nothing but training and KIHAP!
Big congratulations from taekwondo athletes to those who have completed their new belt values!
Taekwondo athletes have an exciting week as they compete in the Universiade in Taiwan and the World Cadet Championships in Sharm-El-Sheik, Egypt.
The Universiade
Christian Kamphuis competed in the men's movement series group series, together with Budokwa's Olli Siltanen and Frans Salme. The ranking was the best of the European teams, 6th.
Essi Labart competed in the women's movement series, being 12th.
Jenna Partanen will compete in the women's under 67 kg category on Wednesday.
Eddie Quinones competes in the boys under 65 kg category. Eddie starts the race as one of the early favorites, after winning silver at the spring Presidents' Cup. Eddie fights on Thursday.
Start the fall season with a bang at the Taekwondo athletes' camp!

Come and learn about the versatile hobby of taekwondo!
Right now is a great time to start practicing taekwondo. The open day for taekwondo athletes is here again, and anyone can get to know the sport by watching, trying and asking questions. The club's instructors are there to talk about the sport, the club and the training, so the answers to the mind-boggling questions can be found in Konala, Helsinki, Corduroy 3 Con Saturday 26.8.2017. The doors open at 12:00 and are open until five, even longer if there are enough people interested. In the future, e.g. introductory training opportunities, competitions, raffle for training months, etc. And serving coffee and juice - of course!
There is no bad age or condition to start taekwondo, the sport is suitable for everyone. Small children learn general physical skills, and with seniors we go at a calm, but still developing pace. For the young and enthusiastic, our club offers fast-paced training and learning competitive sports under the leadership of our country's most successful taekwondo athletes. In our club, there are many families, where both children of different ages and parents enthusiastically pursue their own goals, or together in family groups. So don't worry, start taekwondo!

Autumn training times start on Monday 14.8.
The training times for autumn have been decided, and there will be no major changes to the spring calendar. A few changes are due to the resourcing of instructors and the effort to clarify the calendar even more. In addition, efforts have been made to organize more practice space for the largest groups.
As new exercises, the group of young athletes will have a third weekly class and body control/acrobatics will return from their break on Sunday. Feel free to try different additional exercises in addition to the basic exercises. Ask your instructor in more detail where you should start.
