Changes to the exercises of the movement series competition group

There will be small changes to the training calendar of the business series competition group starting this week. Tuesday's practices at 17:00-18:30 will be changed from a practice open to everyone to a closed practice intended for the club's own young competitors. Thursday's exercises at 17-18:30 will be changed from a self-paced exercise to a fully guided exercise and it will still remain open to everyone.

In the future, the Taekwondo athletes' own young competitors who have separately asked the coach responsible for the movement series, Heikki Liukko, will be allowed to participate in Tuesday's training sessions. The intention is to turn the training session into the young competitors' own practice, in which children who compete with goals up to the age group of cadets participate.

Until now, Thursday's practices have been semi-autonomous practices, where a coach has been present, but from this week on Thursdays, full service is on and the coach on Thursdays is usually Ville Lehtinen, or Skavi among the familiar.

Welcome to training!

New dan values for taekwondo athletes

The examinees and the examiner after a successful dan exam
The examinees and the examiner after a successful dan exam

On Saturday, September 23, 2017, belt exams were held at the Taekwondo athletes' hall for the first four black belt tryouts and two who are increasing their dan rank. The seven-hour sweat job with ceremonies was crowned at eight in the evening, when the former red belts got the darkest belt on their hips. The whole group passed the belt exam with flying colours, and despite the occasional heavy fatigue, the faith in their own doing remained amazingly well in the end, even though the organizers of the belt exam, Teemu Heino and Juho Kostiainen, tried their best to challenge the test takers and sometimes even slightly open the door to disbelief.

It was gratifying to see how the trainees' understanding of technique, power output and fighting in its various forms has developed to a level that entitles them to a black belt. In both forms of competition, in the series of moves and in the match, the overall performance was strong. Of course, specialization in these forms of sports was visible in the tests in both directions, but on the other hand, it would be worrying if it was not visible. When the performances were good across the board even in the weakest part, you can be satisfied with the test also from the sports club's point of view.

Christian's flying back spin kick was seen dozens of times during the test

It's always a celebration when more black belts are added to the club. Our club, now six years old, is in a situation where enthusiasts who have started with us are increasingly becoming aware of the value of a black belt, and the number of black belt test takers will probably increase in the coming years. Good luck with your new black belts! Remember that the road is just beginning!

On September 23, 2017, they successfully increased their belt value

  • Matti Sairanen, 3rd dan
  • Christian Kamphuis, 2nd dan
  • Severi Sarala, 1st dan
  • Enni Jaakkola, 1st dan
  • Sami Leskinen, 1st dan
  • Aleksi Väyrynen, 1st dan

Indoor competitions on Friday 22.9.

Friday 22.9. Indoor competitions of taekwondo athletes

Welcome to the first gym classes of the autumn season in Konala. Participation is free for everyone, and you do not need to register separately.

17:00-19:00 – E, D, and C2 (7-12-year-olds and 12-14-year-old beginners)

19:00-21:00 – C1, B1, B2, R1 and H (12-14-year-old cadets, +15-year-olds)

If you are not sure which group you should join, ask your coach or contact the group by email. In particular, larger C2 boats and those planning to transfer to cadet series should ask if more suitable resistors can be found in a later shift. We encourage all new enthusiasts to participate in the games, even if they don't even know what competing means. The first time you can look at the moods or even try it yourself if you feel like it.

E-armors are used for the shift starting at 19:00. Your own E-socks are therefore highly recommended if you want to fight with electric armor. There are also a few loaner socks in different sizes.

You can borrow the missing protectors from the club, but we encourage everyone to buy their own training protectors, which are regularly needed in training as well. Ask more from the gym's equipment store and coaches.

Note! No other exercises will be organized on the day of the Salika competition.

New taekwondo dans to Konala

20.12.2016 in the 1st dan exams held at the taekwondo athletes' gym successfully fought for their belts Jannet Wargelin and Trap. The roughly four-hour exam began Essi Labartin in connection with movement series training with warm-up and kicking technique, from which the test continued in a private lodge with basic technique and movement series. The basic techniques were quite comprehensively reviewed one by one, after which the technique was done while moving in the form. The basic technique was followed by the business series part. After that, the trainees were able to show their steering skills by pulling the warm-ups of adult enthusiasts' training, after which they moved on to the fast-paced step fight and self-defense section. During the small physical Huil, the written part of the exam was completed.

Three hours from the start of the test, we got to measure the mental and physical edge for the match technique part, the warm-ups of which were again handled by the belt coilers. Petteri Kauppinen had come to the place face to face to make sure that the kokela's match part wasn't exactly dancing with thornless roses. In the match part, both old school and new age techniques were reviewed, and finally, of course, we sparred - belt coils also in two-on-one mode. After four hours, we still had to fight against fatigue and cramps in the jumping kick part, and at the end of the test we did the "crushings", which this time were applicable due to the lack of material, but measured competence and power output at a sufficient level.

After the hall had already quieted down for the night, cramps were massaged, test feedback was given, a beautiful but manly barren belt ceremony was held, and the accompanying portrait was taken with a self-timer. The examiner congratulates the new black belts, Jan-Eric Wargelinia and Janne Ritaa, about passing the dan exam with flying colors. The level of competence clearly exceeded the black belt criteria, although there was still room for improvement in a few areas. The measures to correct the "weaknesses" were initially reviewed, and in the next test, the gentlemen are allowed to expect an even more complete whole and a tougher performance.

The test was evaluated and the article was written by:
Teemu Heino

Coach's thoughts from Nurmijärvi

Taekwondo athletes in Nurmijärvi!

First of all, I have to thank everyone who was on the team and who came. The atmosphere was great and the performances of our own competitors were watched and encouraged with enthusiasm. Once again, it was really fun to be involved in coaching our top juniors.

This time I personally followed the performances of Aino, Emmi, Juri and Frans in the role of coach. We went through a lot of matches with Aino and Emmi. We went to the ring with Juri and Frans once. All four were united by a great will to win. In all matches, they fought until the end without giving up, even if they didn't always win. However, a few matches were turned from a losing position into a winning one with just this will to win. Really good performances from everyone and this is very good to continue towards the next battles!

I heard from Sampo and Paul that everyone else had also succeeded and had shown very nice moves in the day's matches.

Congratulations to everyone for their good performances and awards!

Indoor competitions 30.10.2015

It happens in indoor competitions!
It happens in indoor competitions!

Traditional indoor competitions will be held at the taekwondo athletes' hall on Friday 30 October 2015, and it was decided to try a slightly new way of doing things. In other words, before the indoor competitions, competitors and enthusiasts from both our own club and other clubs are recruited, and a list of participants is collected from them, which is published on this page. In this way, anyone who hesitates to participate can see if there are opponents close to their own weight class.

We therefore ask that you promptly notify one of the coaches either of your participation or of your absence. The list is updated as needed. The children of our own club do not need to register. E, D and C2 competitors will not be published, there will certainly be enough of them.

Participation is free for everyone.

Change in practice times

The morning exercise is removed from the selection

The popularity of taekwondo athletes' morning practice has varied a lot over the years, and over the past year the number of visitors has shrunk to a very small number. Because of this, the morning workout is removed from the selection.

The last morning workout was held on October 1, 2014 with two people. Taekwondo athletes would like to thank all morning volunteers who attended morning training during these first three years.

September's gym competition report

indoor competition 2September's gym competition report

The autumn 2014 indoor competition season for taekwondo athletes is now open. The first race was held on 12.9. on Friday. Juniors and adults were there to fill the room, and the matches continued until nine. A great mood and atmosphere prevailed in the hall until late in the evening.

It was also very nice to see Tapiola's fighters measuring their skills on Konala's mats. As usual, Porvoo, Loviisa and Riihimäki were also represented. Thanks to the guest stars only.

Now, as a new thing, pumse was also included in the indoor competitions. Four brave competitors were making pums. There was no actual competition yet, but the contestants received feedback and an assessment of their own performance.

The next races will be held on Friday 10.10. The hall wasn't quite full yet, so everyone was excited to join in!

Below are more statistics from this year's indoor competitions.

Kalajärvi taekwondo courses in a package for spring

Kalajärvi's hard-working taekwondo enthusiasts got to show their skills at the belt test held yesterday, Thursday, May 8, 2014. Those who started the first courses in Kalajärvi were able to take the green belt exam, and those who started this course had the yellow belt exams. A total of 9 enthusiastic testers took part in the belt tests and each of them performed the test very well! A few homeworks were given to some to practice before the final acceptance of the exam, but overall the exam was a good performance. The exam was taken by Juho Ranta, 2nd dan.

The people of Kalajärvi still have taekwondo training next week in Konala, when Kalajärvi school is closed. Exercises for both age groups at 17-18!

Congratulations again to all the belters!
