Young matchmakers!

The Finnish Taekwondo Federation organizes a joint match practice for all talented children, cadets and young people. The training is directed by Olympic coach Jesus Ramal. Apart from age groups (DCB), there are no restrictions on participation. The goal is to map out possible future tops and at the same time get to know their needs in terms of development in the sport.

Time: Monday 23 March 2015, 18-20

Place: Helsinki, TU11 club hall (Ruosilankuja 3)

Instructors: Olympic coach Jesus Ramal, Olympic athlete Suvi Mikkonen and head coach Kim Sinisalo

Eddie at the Qatar Open

In the first match, the opposition fell 33-0 and in the next round there was a loss 4-7. The opponent of the second match clearly won the series.

Spring day and Helsinki Open karonka 21.3.

The traditional spring day for taekwondo athletes takes place on Saturday 21.3. All fans of the club are welcome to the event at the Konala hall. The day consists of training, awards, lunch and fun. The adults continue in the evening with saunas.

Schedule:

9:45 – Day opening

10:00-11:30 – First training

11:30-13:00 – Lunch for everyone on behalf of the club. Rewards, information and program.

13:00-14:30 – Second training of the day

14:45-16:15 – Third training of the day

16:30- Adults continue in the sauna of the Töölö competition hall. Drinks and snacks are offered to the Helsinki Open and hall renovation crew.

The event is free of charge. Registrations at the hall's service desk.

Eddie is fighting in Qatar this weekend

The representative of taekwondo athletes, Eddie Quinones, will compete in the Qatar International Open Taekwondo competition, which will be held for the first time this weekend. Eddie competes in the cadet -45kg category, which has 20 registered participants from ten different countries.

Statistics of February's indoor competitions

Silver for Sara from Germany

Sara, Eddie and Emmi represented Taekwondo athletes at the German Club Championships for Newcomers held in Bonn. Yarley was the coach on the trip.

Sara won her first match in show style 13-0. In the semi-final, Israel's Romy Chmilevsky fell 12-6. In the final, Sara faced Spain's Elsa Hernandez, coached by Jesús Ramal. The Spaniard won the pot this time, but for Sara to take home a great silver.

Eddie clearly won 13-0 against his German opponent Emir Munir-Sabanuc and advanced to the semi-finals of his tough series. However, Germany's Mohammed Ali pulled a longer stroke and progressed all the way to winning the series. Bronze for Eddie.

Emmi started her own match strongly by taking a 3-0 lead with a back kick. However, the opponent tightened up and after a tight fight, Emmi had to give up, finishing 6th-10th.

The club congratulates the contestants on their great positions!

Belt exams and indoor competitions this week

Belt tests Tue, Wed and Thur, gym competitions Fri

The taekwondo athletes' hall has been finished and renovated to its new appearance. Rehearsals start on Monday with the normal schedule from 17:00 onwards.

Tuesday 24.2. belt exams for 7-14 year olds are held. At 17-18, all yellow belt passers (8th kup) and all green belt passers (7th kup) take part in the exam. From 18:00 to 20:00, all candidates with two yellow ribbons and higher belts will take part in the exam. Those who do not have a belt test have exercises normally on the other side of the curtain.

On Wednesday 25.2. is held Belt exams for 3-6 year olds at 6-7pm. Those who do not have a belt test have joint exercises at 5-6 pm.

Thursday 26.2. belt exams for adults are held.

Participants in the tests have been informed about the test before the skiing holiday. If you are unsure about your own belt test, contact the instructors.

On Friday 27.2. the indoor competitions are organized on a regular schedule, i.e. the juniors start at 17:00 with joint warm-ups and tight matches, and the adults continue at 19:00. Now is a good time to buy your own protections and test drive them in indoor competitions. They are an almost essential addition to the contents of the training bag, even for basic hobbies.

Help is needed to finish the renovation on February 21 and 22.

The renovation of the hall is nearing completion, but we still need help for the finishing touches. Many kinds of small jobs are available, mainly painting and finishing. Tanja makes salads and other services are also available. Both on Saturday and Sunday we start at 10:00. You don't have to be there all day, just a couple of hours helps a lot. Welcome!

Budo Nord Open 14.3.2015 in Loviisa

Budo Nord Open will be held on Saturday 14 March 2015 from 09:00 to 18:00. The competition venue is Loviisa's sports hall, Brandensteininkatu 29.

There is definitely a series for everyone. Sign up by email info@tu11.fi or at the shiny new service counter. Put in Mail your name, your series if it is known, your date of birth, your weight and your training group. The club invoices the participation fees afterwards.
