Tallinn Ambassador Cup success

The Estonian Ambassador Cup took place on December 9. in the traditional Kalev Hall. The teams from TU11 and Nurmijärvi participated from Finland. The trip didn't go without a hitch, but the sporting event was great.

Severi Sarala competed in the boys' -68 kg category, winning both of his matches and a gold medal was hung around his neck. The opposition was surprisingly tight, but the wins were clear.

Emilia Lahti and Milla Väyrynen competed in the under-53 kg category. Emmi lost her own quarter-final opener. The organizers already gave him a bronze medal, but they realized that he had to take it. So there was a bronze match between Milla and the other Estonian girl who lost the semifinal, and Milla took the medal with a clear and intelligent match. The tension caused by a break of a couple of years, which was visible in the opening match, was probably replaced by action.

Plum Kopisto and Venne Viitaniemi won clear victories in their series. Venne won both of his matches completely overwhelmingly and Plumkin won clearly in his three matches in the junior series. In the cadet series, Plum lost his opening match after a good fight to a much bigger Latvian opponent. There were already two tight junnumats below and there was hardly any break.

The most exciting day was for Sofia Sarala, who wasn't supposed to have matches in the first place. However, opponents were suddenly found in the B series, where head contact was prohibited. Sofia got into the first match cold, but she took it anyway. The final stretched to Golden Point, which, however, easily turned to Sofia.

The arrangements left much to be desired, e.g. there was no hotel room reserved for the second night, the schedules went as they were, etc... However, the resourceful parents and the calm-minded athletes managed things in the right order.

The successful season of the match team was wrapped up in the way it deserved, with a medal party!

Indoor competitions on Friday 15.12.

Friday 15.12. Indoor competitions of taekwondo athletes

Welcome to the season-ending indoor competitions in Konala! Participation is free for everyone, and you do not need to register separately. Representatives of other clubs are also warmly welcome to join!

17:00-19:00 – E, D, and C2 (7-12-year-olds and 12-14-year-old beginners)

19:00-21:00 – C1, B1, B2, R1 and H (12-14-year-old cadets, +15-year-olds)

If you are not sure which group you should join, ask your coach or contact us by email. In particular, larger C2 boats and those planning to transfer to cadet series should ask if more suitable resistors can be found in a later shift. We encourage all new enthusiasts to participate in the games, even if they don't even know what competing means. The first time you can look at the moods or even try it yourself if you feel like it.

E-armors are used for the shift starting at 19:00. Your own E-socks are therefore highly recommended if you want to fight with electric armor. There are also a few loaner socks in different sizes.

You can borrow the missing protectors from the club, but we encourage everyone to buy their own training protectors, which are regularly needed in training as well. Ask more from the gym's equipment store and coaches.

Note! No other exercises will be organized on the day of the Salika competition.

Changes to the exercises of the movement series competition group

There will be small changes to the training calendar of the business series competition group starting this week. Tuesday's practices at 17:00-18:30 will be changed from a practice open to everyone to a closed practice intended for the club's own young competitors. Thursday's exercises at 17-18:30 will be changed from a self-paced exercise to a fully guided exercise and it will still remain open to everyone.

In the future, the Taekwondo athletes' own young competitors who have separately asked the coach responsible for the movement series, Heikki Liukko, will be allowed to participate in Tuesday's training sessions. The intention is to turn the training session into the young competitors' own practice, in which children who compete with goals up to the age group of cadets participate.

Until now, Thursday's practices have been semi-autonomous practices, where a coach has been present, but from this week on Thursdays, full service is on and the coach on Thursdays is usually Ville Lehtinen, or Skavi among the familiar.

Welcome to training!

The competition season ended handsomely in the league finals

The league finals ended the competition season for both competition formats at the familiar Maaniitu school in Nurmijärvi. Big hats off to the entire team of Taekwondo athletes who have been around all the competitions of the year reaping success. Of course, the coaching team and the ever-reliable maintenance crew also deserve their thanks.

Here's a race report about the great moments of the day, as well as a list of results at the end. You can read about our club's success in the competition leagues as a whole later in your own news.

If you want to go back to the best moments of the competition, all the live streams can be found here: https://www.taekwondonurmijarvi.fi/kalenteri/liigafinaalit-2017/livestream/

The mood is on the roof until the end of the day on the side of the match

The matches of the day were fast-paced, entertaining and thrillingly exciting until the last few seconds. One of these heart-pumping matches in the stands was the Lassi final in the morning, where points were hunted all the way to the overtime. Lassi's cool-headed solution and faith in his own tactics brought the decisive points home and the gold medal around Lassi's neck. Aleksandr and Markus also gave their own kind of show, who made their way to the mutual finals on both sides of their charts. This time the kick rally was decided in favor of Aleksandr. Kian and Aleksi also took a similar mutual twist, from which Kian emerged as the winner. Among the morning's top performances, Alina's series victory earned with three clear wins also deserves a mention. Alina's tactical understanding and reaching kicks were simply too much for the opponents.

In the afternoon in the league series, Taekwondourheiijat was, as usual, comprehensively represented, especially on the cadet side. The day culminated in a super fast-paced match between Aino and Doboksport's Viiv, during which the atmosphere and volume of the competition venue hit the roof. A sad one-point loss for Aino, but this should be understood because the match was already Aino's fourth in a row. The power girls Jenny, Iines, Aino and Sofia were real workaholics, only quickly changing the color of their armor after the start of a new match, always after the previous one. In particular, Jenny's day as a whole was wonderful, and her good performance led to victory in the -37kg category. Plum and Lauri faced each other again in the mutual final. Plum's precise clicks brought home the win this time, but an excellent day from Lauri as well. Venne's kicks sowed terror in the -33kg series, and the opponents didn't really have the keys to get around them. A great series win and quite a clear one. Tuikku showed his skills again by taking the cadets' -51kg series as usual with tactically mature and confident solutions. Severi's legs showed the same relaxed grip as in Vantaa, but after two clear victories, the final unfortunately went to Otso of Budokwa. Kian and Teresa tested their wings for the first time on the cadet mats. Apprenticeships were still paid this time, but there was certainly plenty of hunger left for the first season.

All in all, a great day on the match mats. Great performances and self-surpasses were also seen from those contestants who were not mentioned in the news. See you at the gym and continue developing together!

Strong and confident performances in business series

On the business side, Taekwondo athletes were represented by Sofia, Victori, Bella, Alex, Tiitu, Plum, Aino and Sara. As a coach, it was a real pleasure to watch the performances of all the competitors, when all the competitors managed to make very good performances today. The level of performance was also reflected in the number of medals and standings. Another thing that warmed the coach's mind was seeing the improvement in level of all competitors during the fall. Level up was seen as more confident performances in all competitors, although the excitement of the competition tickled the bottom of the stomach a little more for others. The action was clearer, calmer and more power had been conjured up in both kicks and hand techniques.

This is really good to continue training towards the spring games and as a coach you can be really proud when we have such good competitors in our company.

- Peter

For Jenna, an opening win and a second round loss in the Paris Open G1 race.

Untitled-6Jenna Partanen and Severi Sarala represented our company at Paris Open.

In the 1st round, France's Anna Cognet fell 20-0. In the next round, Anna Leprowska from Poland was better 25-7

Severi faced Serbia's Dusan Bozanic in the junior series. The Serb has cadet EC gold and several tournament victories. Although Severi got a better grip on the Serb towards the end, a good move at the beginning took the Serb to victory.

Morning workouts for adults start on Tuesday 14.11.

The possibility of morning exercise for adults has attracted enough interest that a class is organized 14.11. from every Tuesday at 7:00-8:00.

In the morning workouts, the body is opened and awakened in an upward direction and special attention is paid to exercises that support sports techniques. The training is suitable for everyone, even those with little or no experience in taekwondo. A separate 10-card (€85) is used for training, and you can use it at your own pace. So you don't have to join every morning workout.

Welcome to the morning walk!
