Movement series training for taekwondo athletes in the 2023-24 season

Sequences of movements (poomsae) are a central part of taekwondo training. They are competed all the way up to the World Championship level and are an essential part of technique training and development in belt ranks. Practicing sets of movements is one of the best ways to develop versatile in the sport.

Taekwondo athletes put a lot of effort into practicing movement sequences, and our athletes have excelled in both domestic and international competitions. In the 2023-24 season, the activities will be further developed and there will be exercises suitable for all skill levels. We also strongly encourage enthusiasts with lower belt grades to try competing and goal-oriented training. You can participate in competitions with a low threshold - amateur series are available for all belt levels.

Element

Race group

The competition group is intended for athletes who compete or are about to compete in ranking series. In the fall season, part of the competition group will represent Finland in the EC competitions, so the exercises are planned to support their preparation. You need an athlete contract for the competition group.

The competition team always has technique training on Mondays, which is also suitable for arrogant enthusiasts who want to develop their technical skills. Ask the coaches for more information if the exercise interests you.

Laura Kinnunen, Ville Lehtinen, Marita Jaakkola and Pauli Raivio are the coaches of the competition group

Children's competition group

The children's competition group is intended for all enthusiasts aged 8-15 who are interested in competing in business series competitions. At the beginning, you participate in amateur series according to your own belt rank, and the goal is to gradually move towards ranking series. We also learn about freestyle movement sequences and acrobatics training.

The group has one own exercise per week, but the group members also participate in the children's hobby group and, according to the coach's instructions, also in other movement series exercises. In addition, additional training sessions are organized for the group before the competitions.

You need an athlete's contract for the children's competition group, but you can freely try a few times to see if the exercise suits you. Ask the coach for more information about contracts.

Pauli Raivio is the coach of the children's racing team

Hobby shop series (children and adults)

Amateur movement series are intended for enthusiasts with at least a yellow belt who want to develop in movement series and perhaps also compete in them. The group is also suitable for excellent technique practice and as part of preparation for the following belt exams. All 8-12-year-old enthusiasts participate in the children's hobby group, as well as the children's racing group under 13 years of age. Enthusiasts over the age of 13 participate in the adult group and 13-15 year olds in the children's racing group.

Aino Kortelainen is the coach of the children's amateur sports series and Alex Jürgens of the adults.

Poomsaeklinikka and free exercise

The poomsaeklinikka is intended for all enthusiasts who want to improve their movement sequences or learn new movement sequences. The exercise is also suitable for competitive athletes. The clinic is a free-form exercise where everyone progresses according to their own goals, practicing independently. However, there will be a coach and experienced athletes who will guide you in techniques and practicing new sets.

Poomsaeklinika's coach is Pauli Raivio.

Free practice on Fridays is intended for athletes in competition groups. The hall is then reserved for self-initiated training and development.
