Situation overview of taekwondo athletes 18.5.

Soon we will be able to train again under "normal conditions"! Last week we announced that we will open the hall for small group training (max 10 people) in the last two weeks of May, so that 1 close training and two live trainings will be organized for each group. You had to register in advance for local training. The groups are full, but the live workouts are running this week as well and very soon we will be able to go to the gym to train in a bigger group. 

The summer training calendar enters into force on June 1. and it will be published this week on the club's website at:

The age divisions are indicative and you can participate in any exercise. For young children, adult exercises may seem difficult, but that does not prevent participation.

Summer training

In June, when the gathering restrictions are relaxed, we will start training more closely in the gym, but still taking into account the necessary precautions and the prevailing restrictions and recommendations. We give even more detailed instructions to all enthusiasts regarding the procedures, and these are also reviewed with all groups in the gym.

In the summer, at least three exercises are organized for all age groups, of which at least one per week is carried out outside.

The exercises and being in the gym at the beginning of June are planned so that there is no close contact in any of the exercises and a distance of more than a meter is kept from the training buddies. Hands are always washed before and after exercises and training equipment is used as little as possible. The equipment used is always disinfected at the end of the day. You must not come to the exercises in pain, so stay home if you have even minor symptoms. The coach has the right to immediately remove the enthusiasts he interprets as sick from training based on his own judgment.

The summer training calendar will be published this week on the club's website.

NOTE! In all our actions, we take into account the regulations and guidelines of the authorities, so policies can change quickly.

The belt exams canceled in March will be held right at the beginning of June

A large part of those invited to the March belt exam had time to pay for the exam already in March. Many thanks for this! Enthusiasts who have already paid will have priority when we organize replacement trials at the beginning of June. An invitation to the exam will be sent separately to these enthusiasts.

We will organize more belt test events later in the summer, to which enthusiasts who have diligently collected training marks from live training will be invited, for example.

For all those who paid for their training taste in March-April, a free training month will be added to their current contract

In March and April, we organized a campaign in which we offered a free training month to everyone who paid for their next payment period, and two months if you paid for two training periods at once. We can only humbly thank you for the great support you have shown to the club in a challenging situation!

Free months are added to training contracts automatically, and the next invoice appears in the email as usual only when the entire paid period and the free month have passed. Some of the enthusiasts whose new payment started at the very end of April may have already received a new invoice, but the free training month will be automatically added to that payment period.

In addition to this, paid enthusiasts are offered or have been offered:

  • Virtual workouts of the growing library
  • Live training several times a week
  • Self-paced exercise program for home training
  • Possibility to borrow the club's fire mats for your own home training
  • Free camps as soon as the hall is opened
  • No summer break this year, but the exercises will continue without a break throughout the summer, if the situation allows
  • Update or additional services for all contract types:
    • Basic agreement for adults -> A month's training right for the weight room
    • Basic contract for children -> One month training right for the children's competition team
    • Adult athlete contract -> One month's training right at the weight room. Private lesson for those who already have a contract for the gym.
    • Children's athlete contract -> Free private lesson or lesson with a couple, depending on the age of the enthusiast.

The corona epidemic in Finland has progressed to the stage where restrictions are starting to be loosened to the extent that it is safe and justified from the point of view of the functioning of society. For example, starting in June, gatherings will be allowed for a maximum of 50 people, sports facilities will be opened and close-to-school teaching in schools will continue on May 14.

The authorities have yet to provide more detailed instructions regarding sports activities, but it goes without saying that continuing activities as quickly as possible is especially important for children and young people. Taekwondo athletes also strive to quickly return to normal training activities.

Of course, we follow the instructions of the authorities in all activities, and the safety of enthusiasts, coaches and other team members is at the center of our operations. This means that e.g. exercises and general movement and being in the gym are planned so that the probability of the virus spreading is as low as possible. In addition, live exercises online will continue at least until May.

Preliminary plan for returning to gym training

With the start of schools, we have decided that in the last two weeks of May, we will organize one practice a week in the gym for all age groups at the same time as the live practices are still running. Live workouts online will continue at least for the whole of May, so enthusiasts can still train from home.

The professional athletes had a great success in the 1st Daedo Open European Poomsae Championships

Christian, Aino, Alex, and Sofia showed their skills in the online business series competition organized by Daedo, which gathered more than 1000 participants from different parts of the world. The judges had a full job to evaluate the performances for no less than 7 days.

All Taekwondo athletes advanced in their series to the semi-finals, which is a hard performance in itself considering that, for example, there were well over a hundred participants in the cadet girls. 

Aino finished in tenth place, being the best European in his series. The final place was a few hundredths of a point away. Sofia's final ranking in the series is 47, but it's especially worth looking at the points of the first round, where Sofia stylishly won more than seven, advancing to the semifinals in sixth place in her group. In cadet boys, Alex finished 24th. 

In the men's under-30 series, Christian also progressed stylishly from the preliminary rounds to the next round, but the road was cut off in a tough series in the semifinals and the final ranking was 28th. 

On Sunday, we can still be excited by the performances of Budokwa's Frans Salme and Wondo's Johanna Nukar and Juho Metsälä, who advanced to the finals.

In February, the same power team competed in Sweden.

Congratulations to everyone for their wonderful performances and good luck to the Finns until the final day!

Situation overview of taekwondo athletes 5.5.

The Finnish government issued 4.5. information on the relaxation of gathering restrictions to 50 people on 1.6. from Correspondingly, sports facilities, libraries and museums will start to open and face-to-face teaching in schools will continue on May 14.

In terms of taekwondo exercises, this means that you can soon return to practicing in a group. Of course, we take the situation into account when planning the exercises, using the equipment and utilizing the training facilities. This can be seen concretely, e.g., in the fact that at first close contact and pair exercises are avoided and part of the training is done outside.

We are ready to open training operations soon. In the weekly bulletin at the beginning of next week, we will tell you more about the details and the upcoming practice times.

Hey,

This week's bulletin has no other filler than the live workouts of the coming week. If you have somehow managed to avoid participating in live classes, now is the time to join.

There have been no significant changes to the corona situation and compliance with caution and restriction measures is still of primary importance in all activities. We constantly monitor the guidelines and regulations regarding the opening hours of schools, restrictions on gatherings, and physical activities.

The hall continues to be closed

The restrictive measures have significantly slowed down the spread of the coronavirus in Finland, but it is worth remembering that the peak of the disease is still ahead. Of course, we would very much like to be able to train again in the usual way, but first we have to make sure that the epidemic wave is starting to subside. We closely follow the authorities' recommendations and instructions, and based on these, the hall will be closed at least until the beginning of May, following the gathering restrictions and other recommendations. We will continue to inform you every week about the development of the situation.

Our campaign to keep the club's financial situation stable is still ongoing. With the help of the campaign, we hope to be able to keep the club's cash situation at a level that the operation can be continued even after the epidemic subsides. Some of the enthusiasts have already taken part in the campaign, but every training fee paid enables the development and continuation of activities even in times of crisis. The first live trainings online will take place already this week

The technology for live broadcasts does not yet work as expected, but we will hold the first live broadcast as a test already this week. You can participate in the training with a computer, mobile phone or smart device with a camera. This is how the coach sees you and you see the coach. The class is designed in such a way that it can be done even in a small space at home.

The first live workout is shared by everyone, but in the future we will target our own workouts for different age groups and skill groups.

We send all enthusiasts a separate invitation to the training by e-mail. The training is carried out via the Zoom service, and the email provides more detailed instructions on how to join the training. It's not difficult.

Make your own video or social media update about home workouts

Post pictures or training videos of your home workouts on social media using #tu11 #taekwondo #tu11home workouts #tu11coronafight hashtags. Also take part in the home workout challenge and see how long you can do a workout tube. In the challenge, the training streak is maintained when you post a photo or video of your own home workouts every day (1 rest day per week is allowed.) The person who completes the longest training streak will be rewarded with a surprise prize!

You can also send us your picture or video if you want us to publish it on the club's own social media channels. For example, members of the competition team can compile a few minutes of training tips for other enthusiasts.

Do you need taekwondo mats for home training? I have mats to borrow from the gym for the duration of the stay. 

There is currently no active training in the gym, so the club's fire mats are also lying on the floor as unnecessary. Would you like to give the carpets a good home for a while, when they too can fulfill their purpose. The offer applies to all those who have paid their training fees without a break. Taekwondo athletes can request the mats back at any time with 3 days' notice, and the athlete is of course responsible for the condition of the mats during the loan period. Situation overview of taekwondo athletes on 30 March 2020

Content of the situation review

What do Taekwondo athletes do when the gym is closed?

The hall's doors have been closed for a couple of weeks now, and it is still impossible to predict the opening at this point. We are still monitoring the effects of the corona epidemic and the Government's recommendations in this regard on a daily basis. Of course, the most important thing is the safety of enthusiasts, instructors and their close circle.

In spite of everything, the club members have not rested on their laurels, but the development of operations and quality improvement have started to be implemented in a big way now that day-to-day operations cannot be carried out. We want to make sure that when the hall opens again, the activities can be started from the same, if not better, starting points than when the break started. Correspondingly, we have worked hard on the video workouts and scrubbed the gym down to the last corner, so that the enthusiasts can get to a clean and well-ordered training space as soon as the workouts start again.

Live workouts online will start as soon as possible

The good thing about the virtual lessons recorded on our website is that you can watch them according to your own schedule when it suits you best. However, a joint guided exercise has its own charm, even if there is a bit space between physically. Modern technology makes it possible to hold live exercises over the network, and we are going to develop and implement this idea as soon as possible. We hope to start the live broadcasts already next week, as long as we get the technology right first. We will announce the time of live training separately.

The self-paced training program of those training in competition groups is constantly updated

The members of the competition group have been sent a self-paced training program, the main focus of which is developing basic fitness. We are constantly updating this plan and sending updated versions to group members. There is also a sample weekly program to follow.

We published a campaign a couple of weeks ago, with the help of which we hope to keep the club's cash situation at a level that operations can be continued even after the epidemic subsides. Enthusiasts have seized the offers in impressive numbers. Big thanks to you! A reminder of the benefits we offer to all enthusiasts who continue their contract:

  • By paying for your next contract period (3 months) by the end of April, you will receive one additional month of exercises free of charge
  • By paying for two contract seasons at once (6 months), we add two extra months to the training contract

The campaigns automatically apply to all new 3-month payment periods that start in March or April. If your payment period does not start until after this time, you can take advantage of the campaign by paying for your training period in advance. Please also inform us separately if you want to take the 6-month offer instead of the 3-month one. In addition to this, we offer those who have paid:

    • Adult athlete contract -> One month's training right at the weight room. Private lesson for those who already have a contract for the gym.
