Taekwondo athletes' representatives Tanja Lovikka, Kasper Wargelin, Eddie Quinones and Sara Quinones have spent the Christmas break training taekwondo at the international camp of Finland's Olympic coach Jesus Ramal in Madrid.
During the week, the TU11 team has received top-level instruction and plenty of match experience against international opponents. The camp has teams, e.g. From Spain, Italy and Mexico.
On Sunday, the camp culminated in a huge indoor competition, where the competitors gained competition experience against their own competitors. This is a good starting point for 2014, for which every camper in Madrid has already set both domestic and international goals.
Below are Sara and Eddie's poom skills and pictures from the camp:
The training camp for taekwondo athletes gathered people
The training camp organized on Saturday 28.12 gathered a lot of participation from all age groups despite the Christmas break. In the first training, various acrobatics and body control movements were practiced. In the second exercise, the main theme was jumping kick starts and various jumping exercises. In the last training, the enthusiastic participants still got to split the air in the form of various jumping kicks.
The Christmas break continues until New Year's Day, but on Thursday 2.1, training will be held as usual.
Baby taekwondo, which started in the fall, will continue in January. The spring season classes start after the Christmas break on Tuesday, January 14.
Hourly description
Baby aekwondo offers adults and babies a nice joint exercise moment. Participation does not require previous experience in self-defense and martial arts, so everyone is welcome to get to know baby taekwondo. During the lessons, we practice e.g. basic taekwondo kicks, punches and defenses, as well as exercises to strengthen muscle condition. The classes are designed so that all parents, regardless of age, size and fitness, can participate.
The class consists of a light warm-up, technique and muscle fitness sections, and a stretching session. Although baby taekwondo is mainly aimed at adults, the baby is closely involved in almost all sections. When warming up and exercising, the baby is mainly on the adult's lap and at the same time acts as a nice additional weight. When practicing taekwondo techniques, the baby can be placed next to the blanket to watch the adult's exercises.
Baby aekwondo is best suited for babies older than 3 months who already know how to support their heads.
Schedule
Practices for the spring season (14.1. – 27.5.) are held on Tuesdays from 12 to 13.
The hall doors open no later than 15 minutes before the class starts. After class, you can stay in the gym to feed and take care of the child.
There are no exercises during the ski holiday (week 8), nor during Easter and May Day (weeks 17-18).
Equipment
In addition to the normal exercise equipment, you should bring a towel or blanket on which you can lay the baby from time to time.
Supervisor
The instructor is Saija Sinisalo (1st dan) and her child born in April 2013.
Dues
The season fee of 110 euros covers all 17 Tuesday training sessions (approx. 6.5 euros/hour). If you join in the middle of the season, the season fee is determined according to the remaining training sessions. So if you start with e.g. your 3rd participation, the season fee is then €97.
6 times the card costs 54 euros (9 euros/hour). 6-time cards purchased in the autumn season are valid for the spring season. The one-time fee is 12 euros.
