Backmäki season opened successfully!

The summer training sessions started yesterday, Monday, and in keeping with tradition, the running exercises up the famous "back hill" of the Malminkartano jätemäki also started. During the summer, it is planned to go on Mondays from 17:30 to 19:00 to do various running and jumping exercises using the Malminkartano waste hill. Yesterday was the opening of the season, i.e. silent two-minute strokes up the hill and jogging down. This will be accelerated throughout the summer so that by the end of the summer the times are less than a minute! Welcome, meeting either on the hill at 17:30 or in the gym at 17:15.

Kalajärvi's taekwondo courses start on January 23, 2014!

Kalajärvi's taekwondo courses will start again after the New Year's break on January 23, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. The gymnasium of the Kalajärvi school usually serves as the training place. The course will last about four months, and the final culmination will be the belt exams for all those who have trained hard.

998865_624787254212679_1844046877_n2.pngAs in the last courses, exercises are held once a week on Thursdays for two hours at a time. In the first group, younger enthusiasts train from 16:30 to 17:30 and in the second group, older enthusiasts train from 17:30 to 18:30. The age limit between the groups is about 10 years old, the exact group division is made after the course participants have settled.

Unlike previous years, payments are not made by reference, but all invoices are sent by e-mail. For this function, we need the contact information of all enthusiasts and their guardians. Based on the collection of contact information from the past seasons, an e-mail is sent to everyone, where you can find more detailed information about the courses. If you haven't received an email, please contact Kalajärvi's training instructor, Juho Ranta, either on site or by email at juhor (a) taekwondourheilijat.fi.

Can be seen in training!!!

Kalajärvi taekwondo course students' belt tests

Kalajärvi belt test
Teemu shows the batting model to the belt players

The belt exams for Kalajärvi's taekwondo courses were held yesterday, April 25, 2013, and a total of 16 eager test takers achieved the new belt value in the exam. Six trainees achieved the yellow belt, i.e. 8th kup belt rank, and the remaining ten trainees were graduated to the 7th kup belt rank, i.e. the first green natsa. Teemu Heino 4th dan and Juho Ranta 2nd dan received the belt test. In the opinion of both teachers, the belt exam went exemplary for the group as a whole and there was no need to doubt anyone getting a new belt rank. Teemu and Juho congratulate everyone who got a new belt rank!!!

The next belt exams in Kalajärvi will be held at the end of the autumn courses, near the end of the year, when those who have been practicing for the longest time will have the opportunity to pass the belt exam with a 7th+ kup belt value, i.e. get another green natsa on their belt. Participating in this belt test, however, also requires going to training at Konala's gym during the summer or fall. This is due to the fact that as the belt value increases, the amount of practice required before participating in the test also increases, and the practices are only held once a week in Kalajärvi. There is so much to learn before the next belt test that practicing once a week is not enough.

Next week in Kalajärvi, the last exercises of the spring season courses will be held before the summer break, so come and train everyone!

Student championships in Tampere on November 24, 2012

Today, November 24, 2012, the student championships were held in Tampere's Nääshall. There were three competitors from the gym of taekwondo athletes. Tanja Lovikka took part in the women's under 49 kg category, who went directly to the finals against Klaukkala's Johanna Niemi. The match was even until the end and Tanja was able to turn the situation around for herself in the third set with her strong attacks. The tight match ended 3-1 and Tanja won the gold medal!

Something like a smile on the corner of my mouth...

Elom Damalie participated in the under 80 kg category, which had a total of four participants. In the series played on the pool chart, Elom got to fight against all the participants and collected two losses and one win. Topi Unkila of Pori taekwondo beat Elomi in the first match extremely tight 1-2 with a point scored at the end of the third set. In the second match, Loviisa taekwondo's Jouni Lahtinen faced Elomi's concentration and Jouni was able to inoculate points with main hits. Readings for Jouni 10-1. In the third match, the opponent was Reza Salehi from Tampere Kumgang. Elom, who collected small bumps, was not able to offer his best skills, but he made good use of his opponent's violent style of play and earned him warnings. With the score 9-7 in Saleh's favor in the third period, Elom earned him a fourth full warning and thus won the match by forfeit. A bronze medal as a reward for this!

Pauli Raivio, who works as an instructor at the taekwondo athletes' gym, participated in the men's under 68 kg category, which was the biggest category of the competition, with ten competitors. On Paul's way to victory, Turku's Budokwain Ahmed Abdulghani was the first to fall with 12-0 at the end of the second set due to the point difference. Another opponent, Hannu Lavikainen from Joensuu taekwondo, with whom we already fought three full sets. However, Pauli, who played a bit sticky, won with routine performances by 9-5, who knew his place in the semi-finals. In the semi-final, the opponent was Budokwa's representative, Anton Saari, who normally competes under 63 kilos, Nuoren Saari's experience was not enough to keep up with Paul and in the third set, the point difference reached 14-2 and the final place in the bracket. In the final, Aleksi Nurisalo from Tampere's Kumgang offered resistance after three sets. After two tight sets, Pauli took the lead in the third set and kept it until the end, increasing the final score to 3-6. For Paul, after a full day's work, a gold medal around his neck!

Taekwondo athletes strongly congratulates all medalists! Juho Ranta is present as a coach and physiotherapist.
